When we lost my father (Different circumstances I know), My brother & I bought a locket & put pictures of my Dad, his Mum & my Mum's Mum & Dad in the as they are all no longer with us
You could do something similar with family photo's?

We are paying for them both to stay in a hotel and to have a nice meal, I think she will be chuffed with that
