Well 1230kgs doesnt sound like its heavier than a UK car at all. Certainly not a MY99/00 anyhow.

I would expect a 1230kg Subaru with 260bhp to do a mid to low 13s.

Early UK cars have EWs I think; they certainly dont have any of the kit that I listed.

Me too (James' car weighs 1180 in theory though). Those are Subaru Japan weights that Ive quoted though so theyre really only useful to compare JDM models (with other JDM models). IM may quote their weights half wet etc.

For the record, my RA doesn't have leccy anything but does have aircon (No e/w c/l or e/m). It doesn't even have passenger grab-handles lol!

As I said, I horlicksed the starts definately but as previously stated, this car should be lighter and more powerful than my PPP UK99 - best time 13.5. Gearing is different in that I would only just get into 4th on PTMW! but need an extra change to cross the line under acceleration with the RA.

at the final line i find i have to hit the red line in 4th gear on my 97wrx (sti box)

always pondered about changing into 5th and when i finally did it, it made me slower

I find the same as above . A quick gear change into 5th just dosen't seem natural . I'm not sure it should slow you down that much in the long run. I think its just a case of alot of practice. My first time earlier this year at the pod in my RA i managed a 14.3 pass but car was overheating and playing up a little. Also not had alot of practice in the car . Unfortunately i missed this years Japshow due to an overboost problem. I can't wait to get it on the strip when its running well . I reckon low 13's should be acheiveable.

Thanks
James

To answer the original question and as a guide i did 7 runs in my Sti Type Ra on Sat and then 3 runs on the Sun and the best i could get with a .15 reaction time was 12.6 most of the times were around 13 secs and that includes full de-cat scoobysport exhaust with 5" titanium back box tubular headers, apexi power fc and Roger Clarke lightened flywheel mapped at Zen performance and at that i thought i did well! so i am gutted if some of you are getting in the 12's with less mods (for those of you who i chatted within the fire up lane i was in the white sti ra with 6 pot porsche calipers)

Morto - what gear crossing the line?

well my times came a tumbling down ,i started with a fairly easy run of 12.87 just to see what the prep was like a bit skittish half track .so second run got me an 11.95 that i was looking for .third run started well with a 60ft of 1.628 then an 11.904 @ 119mph last run of the day literally last car on the track on saturday i sheared all 6 inner cv bolts and snapped the drive shaft on the other side (good job really or i would have taken the lights out)but heyho thats drag racing and the only thing scooby in my car is the engine

puff the magic wagon i was struggling with 4th and 5th but i found i was out of steam at about 2000 rpm before the red line so i started to sort of short shift in fourth so i got back on peak power in 5th as i crossed the line by doing this i started to shave off a few more tenths but i sussed this out abit late in the day i just need more fecking power so have been talking to David at API I WANT TO BE IN THE BLOODY ELEVENS then i supose ill want to be in the 10's ah well!

Look up 'Motiv'. I think PS are starting to sell them too. Either off a Porsche Turbo or GTx iirc

Morto what were the 60ft times?... this is the most important part of a 1/4 mile run. every tenth you save on your launch can count for two tenths at the end of the run....or so its said.... but before you look to up the power or spend some money modding the car it would be better to analyse your times and see where your slowing down.... 1/4 mile driving IMO 60% dependant on the driver. with some more practise and perhaps a different technique im sure you could get a better time.

The reason that I ask is that I have access to the calipers; I wondered whether the adapters were available and which rotors were used.....
