oh that looks nasty! not surprised you were crying!
ours is not that bad i would say but ,becaue the impact was right on the front, i can only assume it has shunted the engine upwards, and the air bag didn't go off!

when the insurance come back i will get some more quotes, and take it from there!

Depends on the value of the car.

I've had bent Bentleys and RS500s rejigged in the past...but they were "worth it"

So classic Scooby = no, not worth it. Unless its a 22B

hi dont feel to bad i bumped mine last year and a subaru garage told me i would be writen off (1999 type r) both air bags had gone off so instead of reporting it to the insurance i got it repaire at a local garage it cost me 900 pound the subaru garage quoted around 8000 pound . the damage cant be that bad to yours if it was a frontal impact and the airbags didnt go off

ok debating can all end here! elephant have been in touch.

They are writing it off, have taken it to the scrap and won't let us have it back in line with a new law or something!

Karen we did try but there is no getting it back, will have to get something sensible for a few years until the NCB is back up, but will be getting a scooby then. oh well was fun while it lasted.

Thanks for all your help.

Yes, but I think that crashing an impreza turbo after just 28hours of ownership suggests that some advanced driving lessons are needed!
Someone had to say it!

I'm very sorry to hear of the accident, I am. But, there is no point sticking our heads in the clouds and blaming the accident on the car/conditions. Atleast look at what has happened and try and learn from it. Unless we want the same thing to happen to her next 'pride and joy'??

I thought not.

Sorry to hear about your engine Brian, was it the 'big-ends' in the end?

I was the same, then I came round, realising there is only so much teh laws of physics can be held accountable for.

Only later to find I had duff brake pads, so it was the car after all Credit due to EBC, cheers guys, you owe me 6yrs NCB

Hmmm, sorry to read about your bad experience. No accident can occur at a good time but it's worse when you haven't had the car for long and can quite easily dent (no pun intended) your confidence.

Back in October 2000 my MR2 Turbo was only 7 days old when I suggested taking a work colleague for a spin. Doh, those immortal words still haunt me. It was a mixture of very little RWD experience, awful rear tyres (compound), greasy road surface... oh and Mr Van who thought he'd use the wrong side of the road at a roundabout. Anyhoo, the car was fixed but it took a while to drive it with confidence... but I got there and so will you. Finances permitting, do get another. Imprezas really are fab!

I have to admit, I wasn't impressed with ebc discs and pads on my old sti. Very over-rated!

Indeed, I cringe when I see their adverts saying "good bite from cold". Lesson learnt though, they are cheap for a reason.

Torquesteer - When it comes down to it, i'm sure my inexperiance did contribute to my accident. every one knows this, there is no need to say it! its like rubbing salt into the wound.

i am fully prepared to admit i did not have any experiance driving a powerful car, but i am "blaming" the accident on the conditions because i have been driving that road for 3 years, and gone round that roundabout millions of times, (albeit in a pug/clio)

I would love to get another scooby, but i am now nervous of doing the same again, bf has decided a track day is what i need to get used to throwing the car around, with not a lot for me to hit, but that will be a little way away, so no need for everyone else to avoid them,

will have to get something else for the time being though so i can build up my confidence slowly, will keep an eye on the forum though, I have been advised i when i'm ready i will be able to pick up a good car from an enthusiast.

Sorry to hear the news. Your bf is right, its ok having having a 200bhp+ car with loads of ooomph. But you need to learn how to handle it properly, so advanced lessons would be a great asset to you. So should the situation arise again, you are in the know
For the sake of a few hundred quid, it could save your life!!!!
This is not meant to be demeaning in anyway, its just my opinion.

If you noticed the adverse conditions, shouldn't you have adapted your driving style? The car doesn't spin standing still, does it?
Again, all I am saying is that instead of looking to blame factors other than your own driving, try to understand how you could avoid the same thing happening again.
Were you going too fast, or expecting too much from the car?
We all do it. Some get away with it and some don't. But, understanding what happens, allows us to use that experience to better our driving.

Idealistic I know. But it is the only way that any driver ever improves!

I do agree that it is best to learn from an accident, whatever the cause.
However, I am sorry to hear of your accident and hope that you get back on the road soon. Oh, and you have one UNDERSTANDING bf!

Torquesteer is a member, not a complaint or reason for the crash LOL. Let's face it, they were brand new tyres, and probably cheap ones at that. I have no doubt she aquaplaned actually.

most accidents are avoidable, torquesteer, a little thing called either stupidity (no disrespecct) or general human error...
