Still like to point out the double standards of this forum, "racial" discussions are a no-no, but homophobia is completely tolerated.

Does Pete Doherty have something on someone important too?

Perhaps that because the vast majority of people find the thought of stuffing your dick up another man's pooper a bit gross?

Yes, but that doesn't mean people have the right to judge them for what they choose to do.

But the difference between racism and Homophobia is that to hate someone because of their colour is ridiculous, because you are born a certain colour and have no say over that and anyhow, whatever colour you happen to be you have as much right to a good life as the next person. A gay person however is choosing to do something that disgusts the majority of other people.

Prejudice is prejudice, if two consenting men or women have sex with each other, that's fine. If someone chooses to be muslim as I stated, that has nothing to do with race or colour, it's a religion and a belief. If someone believes they are gay then that's the same as believing in Allah.

As long as they are not hurting anyone or forcing them against their will, what is the problem ?

And why did you contort my post about muslim into a race related post

Paul,

From a Psychological perspective, the jury is still very much out as to the origins of being gay. There is, however, the possibiity that it is biologically determined at least to some extent, and it would seem most unfair to condemn someone for something they had little/no choice over.

Moreover, even if being gay was something that an indivdual could exercise discretion over, is it right to hate them for a lifestyle choice just because you don't approve of it? If an individual makes a lifestyle choice that impact on only them that you don't approve of does that make them a bad person as a whole? Sexuality is just one aspect of who a person is.

IMHO It takes two to tango and what consenting people get up to in their private lives is up to them. Too many people mistake approval/aggreement with tolerance. To tolerate is to respect someone's right to do something you yourself may not agree with. There are somethings that should not be tolerated e.g. terrorism, cruelty to humans/animals etc.. being gay, I'd argue, is certainly not one of them!

I do also sometimes find it hard to reconcile some men's phobias of homosexuals with their hetrosexual predilection for the very activity they find replulsive in men, and their liking of lesbianism.

Don't get me wrong, I don't go around beating up gay people and if someone told me that they were gay, I'd just say it's not my cup of tea, but each to their own.

What I object to is the fact that we are constantly being told that being gay is normal, and I apologise now if I offend anyone, but I don't think it is normal. There's also a lot of cr*p spouted by the gay community about 1 in 3 people being gay (now it's 1 in 10 apparently) and AIDS not being a predominantly gay disease, which they've now admitted it is.

I work in an office of about 130 people and there is 1 gay person to my knowledge (He's the only gay in this company (in a camp welsh voice))!

Statistically, it's not normal, if by normal you mean most common! Is it sufficiently common to be considered regular and does that make it normal? Well that's up for debate.

Whether Aids is more common in a particular group becomes much less relevant if eveyone takes appropriate precautions, regardless of their sexual orientation. I'd suggest they do. AIDS, unlike humans, certainly doesn't discriminate between gay and hetrosexual people!

Anyway, this is all getting much too serious for a public BBS. Lets all agree that everyone is a target for a bit of light hearted mickey taking then no-one is being discriminatory.

There is no criticism of homosexuality in my post KiwiGT. Only the prat we were discussing and the most likely attitude of his towards the punishment I suggested.

I just made the point to show that the number of gay people is exaggerated by the gay community, so it can appear more acceptable.

But doesn't that confound statistical frequency with acceptibility?

Just because someone is common/popular doesnt mean it is right (e.g. George Michael ), and rarity does not imply something is wrong.

Getting back to your original point, he hasn't actually done that much wrong. I recall him being slumped at the wheel previously and another time someone tried to sell their story about him cottaging in Hampstead Heath, hardly offences that would have anyone seriously in trouble, if at all. (plus the US incident but that doesn't really count in the UK)
