You guys with the Bi-xenons, are your spotlights coming on with Main beam??

I have a kit, and the spots dont work with the HID's fitted, as they run off the high beam output. Because the HIDs dont use this output, the spots dont work!!

Any suggestions on how to get them working with HID's??

Dunno about anyone else, but the extra £16 is worth it for the work Genuine has put in to answering questions. Nice one

Ive posted this on the RB5 Owners Club, so may get a couple of more people soon (myself included! )

.... and if I buy, it will be from this thread .... excellent feedback, a 3 (rather than 1) year warranty and, what seems to be good aftersales backup (for parts etc) .... what price peace of mind!!

Finally got around to fitting mine this morning.

Fairly straightforward really - took me about 2 hours, most of which was working out where to put the ballast units and relay unit.

I would recommend putting the ballasts behind the bumper just below the lights and I put the relay on the back of the front strut that the leading edge of the bonnet sits on on the battery side. It needs to be this side for the various cables to reach their intended locations.

Wherever you decide to locate the ballasts it's best to remove the headlights first as this makes more space to work in and allows you to fit the bulbs into the lights on the bench, making this much easier fitting in with the waterproofing rubbers etc.

The quality of the units look good and it's well made and my lights came out well levelling wise and look very good when switched on.

Just need to do a night test now.

One small issue on my car. As it's an RB5, it has retro fitted spot lights where the fogs normally are. These are now not working. I cannot see any reason why this kit would stop them working, the wiring is fairly simple. I did not test them first so have no way of knowing whether they were working beforehand or not.

Does anyone know where they located the relay and fuses for the driving lamps so I can check them?

Thanks again for providing a quality kit at this price genuine

Cheers
Paul

Same for me. There will be a way around it with a bit of thought I would think.

Ask in the 'alternative thread'

You're only changing the lamp, not the whole headlight, so no it won't affect your headlamp levelling.

Think this is something Genuine might be able to answer... seems a couple ppl have had this problem of spots not working after the bi-xenons were fitted.

Most probably sumin simple and straight 4ward, but one of those things you could be ripping your hair out over until you find out what it is...

Some splicing of wires mite be on the cards??

btw, all the pics are looking good and the difference b4 and after and the comparison of HIDs with halogens is very impressive!!!

The lights work very well and the beam pattern is good too. The beam levelling switch still works.

I have yet to try them in the pitch dark but next week should see that change with the clocks going back

The change from dip to main beam is instant too, which is good. I'm not yet sure how good the main beam is as I've only tried them in my street which has lighting - I have a slight concern with the amount of light directly in front of the car on main beam (I live in the town so have to wait till a journey to work to test it properly).

As for the spots, I am certain that it will only be a matter of adjustment of the current wiring or splicing something as suggested - I will be checking this out next weekend. Had a quick look yesterday and I'm sure it can't be too baffling as there is not much there to begin with.

Cheers

Question

Genuine : Can you send to a different address from the paypal account address ?

I'd rather they went to the office than home, mrs will kill me if i spend more on the car - or rather if i get caught spending more on the car.

If this is okay i'll order them as soon as i hear from you.

Cheers

Ordered mine today as well. Was going to contemplate the other GB but the higher warranty and customer service of Genuine has gotten the extra 16 pounds going his way!
