Yes, that is stripped!

Do you feel you do really need to stich weld the shell? With a decent cage in the car tied to the shell at the right places isn't that enough?

Great progress, look forward to the next stage. Keep it coming!

it would be easier fitting a roll cage but i want to keep the car looking standard ish inside as it will be used as a family car and its a bit of a pain climbing around a roll cage . plus i like my roof lining

Fantastic project this. I was actually thinking of doing this as the next stage to mine once I get all the niggles sorted out.

I shall be paying great attention to this thread and good luck with it mate.

Call that fully stripped...???

I can still see the little plastic things that the window surrounding trim things screw into...

How many box's of nuts/bolts/brackets/clips have you got now Neil...??

BTW, drop all the nuts/bolts/brackets off, and we'll get them re-plated...

For a rollcage try rollcentre racing St Ives Cambridgshire. Run by racer Martin Short.

Neil, don't go too far forward with the seam welding, ideally you shouldn't go beyond the strut towers otherwise you could have a bit of a problem should you have a front end crunch...apparently the chassis legs try to go through the bulkhead if they don't crumple

i,d be very happy with a low 11,s 1/4 of a mile as it will have a 6 speed box ,
if i can make scooby shootout next year it should be running between 500bhp and 550bhp and hopefully near 500lbs torque
let me know your reuslts paul ,what power are you expecting to run .

I was also told the seam(s) where the bulkhead meets the floor pan makes the biggest difference once welded up

Why are you welding all of the seams continuously? You would be better stitch welding one on two off.

nas: Yes, i playfully sketched Davids new project.
Agree with John above, all modded shells (on hill climb cars) I've seen have been stitched, weld 25mm, miss 25mm etc. Many people call stich welding 'seam welding'.

is there a problem fully welding it plus its only the engine bay and struts that are fully weleded . can only see the problems as more weight and stronger .

I guess Tim's point is fair.
The car was designed to crumple on sever impact to save the occupants as much as possible.
I think this 'fails' when you add a MULTIPOINT cage, or welding the panels solid.
I cannot recal if you are missing the cage out? I think you said you are.

I would not worry too much about it as a crunch can come from any angle, you rarely have a say in it!

Keep going.
