You dont paint the full picture, when its all explained fully and properly then its evident that its very far from the black and white image that you paint. Ive added to my last post to explain more.

You will also find that the exchage rate they use for the prices on the Nengun site makes it work out cheaper than it is UNTIL you pay with Paypal and then the price goes up due to Paypals exchange rates then you wait a few of months then Parcel Force turn up and ask for more cash off you before they will hand over the goods

Take it from me with the likes of Power FC etc it's worth paying a little extra to buy from a UK supplier just to have someone at the other end of the phone if it all goes pete tong i know i have been there and it's a pain

You won't need anything else to fit the intercooler as it is a full kit. To fit the HKS SSQY (same as me!) you'll need to source a bit of samco hose to connect the blow off valve to the intercooler pipeing. I'm unsure of the sizeing but once I source my intercooler kit I'll be on the phone to Demon Tweeks to source the correct Samco housing.
Hope this helps

Can't say I'm 100% on for this. I've got a WR1 IC for my classic but won't cost me much to swap to this FMIC (car is MY00)

Would the car need remapping after? Its got ECUTEK on it now. I'm planning on upping the turbo to a VF28/35 but would the car run ok for a few months with the OE TD04.

I went for the newage IC so I wouldn't have to go cutting the heck out the front of my car (plus not having to get an induction kit on it) but at this price its very tempting.

Cheers

Hi Carl - you'll need an induction kit if you haven't already got one.

On my STI3 the SSQV fits on the origional piping off the intercooler, so I assume we'll just need a reducing samco from the spur on the hard pipe kit.

To get the best from the FMIC then yes a remap would be required. But I'm no expert on ECUTEK but I'm reckon it would only need a tweek on the map, not a full mapping session. If I was you I would buy the FMIC, hold off fitting until you have your new turbo as well then get it all fitted and mapped in one go. Probably save you a few quid by doing it this way with regard to only one mapping session needed.

Carl - forgot to mention that yes you will need an induction kit to go with the FMIC.

Bren - If I measure up the HKS SSQV will you be able source the correct reducing Samco hoseing?

I'm after 2 of these intercooler kits, delivered to the same address. Can I get a flat rate £15 post on these?
Would also be interested in the samco for the ssqv for both kits once the size is figured out.
thanks

Not into buying an FMIC at the moment, but if anyone's interested, I remember Apex/Bren from my old days in a 200SX and it always has been a great operation, plenty of stock, good prices. Worth buying from.

And in response to the UK/Jap supplied Apexi Power FC question, yes you can get a Power FC delivered cheaper direct from Japan if you're lucky and can dodge customs. But even then you don't have any UK backup and the manual will most likely be in Japanese which is no good for anything. I should know cos I bought one direct from Japan myself. Some people don't mind the risk, some people do. You pay your money, you take your choice.

Will this kit fit an MY96 STI with a 90 degree turbo without cutting any of the pipes? I know some kits need you to cut one of the hard pipes and extend/modify it using a length of Samco? I understand cutting the bumper, slam panel and inner wing.

Hi Bren!

I'm sooooo tempted by this, but must wait for now, however to everyone out there thinking about this:

I have spent a fair wad of cash with Bren and Apex Performance before now for our Nissan 200SX. I can honestly say they are the most helpful and reliable concern I have ever dealt with, and I look forward to them wringing more cash out of me now they're offering items for Imprezas. Great stuff guys!

Nick you'll probably need a 90 degree samco and to chop the end off the first hard pipe - or at least thats how I made a facelift kit fit my 1995 ra, it was the radius of the bend that was too tight on mine.

They look identical to the Autobahn 88 intercooler I have, if this is the case then they are fairly easy to fit and I have had no problem with mine except for one of the hose clamps blowing off. So if the supplier can include Mikalor hose clamps in the deal then you should be onto a winner.

Just my 2p worth.

This might help.

I've marked approx where I had to cut the inner wing - just held the pipe up to the car then drew round a soup can.

Also I had to replace the black box with a joiner tube to get enough clearance.
