43" Hitachi CRT RP. so not too far off the mark
TBH I treat a TV more as a functional piece of furniture and as such the LCD looks better in the room than either the Hitachi or indeed -the more stylish still- B&O CRT.
I am not too fanatical about how sharp, black, fuzzy, ect. my picture is and prefer to have a nice looking set with what I consider to be more than acceptable picture.
What does make me laugh is when you look on avforums.com at some of the set-ups and they have spent a fortune on the best quality panels, screens or projectors yet they have trunking stuck to the wall for their cable runs and decor that pre-dates the AV equipment by 20 years +
Life is all about compromises I s'pose.

42" may look a bit too big in the shop, but once you get it home you soon get used to it and would not want a smaller picture. We only have a small sitting room but it seems to fit well in a corner since it is so slim and we have never regretted getting it.

Well I had a Home cinema orgasm last night
Sky movies 1 --- StarWars - Revenge of the Sith ..... looked and sounded stunning on my 32" Tosh LCD , You just don't get the same experience with CRT and that's a fact

Both LCD and CRT will just show a series of moving pictures.

Actually back ontopic I got something to add
My mate has a 42" Plasma TV that he bought when they first came out, paid about £5000 with a DVD player and surround system.
I think my BEKO tv that cost £150 is better quality. When we play the playstation on his the quality is really quite poor.

Must say that the pictures looked better than I had see previously, however ....
Once I had commented upon the poor pictures on Analogue and Freeview the salesman admitted that the screens have a way to go to match CRT in picture quality on standard signals as inputs.
He also said that technology is changing so fast that spending £1,000's now is probably folly ..... he said, imagine if you bought 12 months ago?? You would be feeling really sick now.
And I guess thats why a few on here are so pissed off that it clouds their judgement .... they so desperately WANT their picture to be good that they delude themselves Sad
