Say you buy a new, high power, double electric oven and plug it in to the normal 240V switch ring and it pops the breakers - do you upgrade the source or take it back to the dealers saying its not as good as the old one?

Not a very powerful argument PSL, you have been informed by a few people that dealers usually hvae analogue picture problems because of a poor aerial system and co interference between all the TV's in the shop. I can hear RF interference on my Ham radio from a surprising distance from just one TV line output believe me. Your aerial system at home is probably a lot better too.
Quite honestly, the picture on my Plasma is quite outstanding, good enough to stop me worrying about spending ridiculous amounts on HD TV with its limited viewing just at the moment, and is is truthfully better than my 29" trinitron was, as good a picturs as it was.
Hope that helps.

is this not like saying my horse and cart runs fine on hay so i dont want one of them car things because it would mean upgrading my fuel source?
why would TV makers be bothered about ensuring old style signals work well on their new sets?

Tightwad??
Tightwad??
I went out last weekend to spend £1500+ on a TV!!!
Just because I came away with disappointment and therefore didn't buy an inferior Plasma/LCD doesn't make me a tightwad!
And I would buy a 36" CRT if I could only find one!

Excuse my ignorance in this matter, but do these chaps also change the gas in plasmas?

The people who buy in some help to set up their TVs are the same people who pay someone £600 to change some DATA in their vehicle ECUs!!
Fools and their money!! Its always been the same ... idiots are removed of their cash too easily

Anyway ...... been to a 'specialist' shop who have all kinds of feeds into their TVs.
Must say that the pictures looked better than I had see previously, however ....
Once I had commented upon the poor pictures on Analogue and Freeview the salesman admitted that the screens have a way to go to match CRT in picture quality on standard signals as inputs.
He also said that technology is changing so fast that spending £1,000's now is probably folly ..... he said, imagine if you bought 12 months ago?? You would be feeling really sick now.
And I guess thats why a few on here are so pissed off that it clouds their judgement .... they so desperately WANT their picture to be good that they delude themselves Sad
