I purposely ran the same hill before i filled then 5 miles to fill up and back for a blast up the hill and it felt like the power was being better sustained (almost like it wasnt dropping off as rapidly).

V-Power, a lot of marketing hype it may be but, and this is a big but, I've owned my car for over a year and it has always returned between 19 and 21 mpg. After the switch to the new fuel, for the last four tanks or so and i'm now getting between 23 and 25 mpg. I'm not going to harp on about this but there is a differance imho without doubt.
As for more power, I'm not sure, I have never really noticed the difference between a foggy day and a warm summer one! Seems smoother though with less hesitation.

I was first impressed with the V Power stuff, but the last few times i have filled up it has been with Tesco stuff, and i am finding Tesco's much better.
Although i have also felt a bit colder recently, so it might be down to the temperatue dropping a bit.

Would just like to clarify what i said in original thread for those who seem to be having a go for expressing my personal opinion of a new product:

I wasn't having a go and I use V Power (used to use Optimax). Now there may well be marginal differences in performance (haven't noticed any myself), but the improvements people are banging on about would indicate some kind of quantum leap and sorry but to quote Victor Meldrew, I just don't believe it.
Maybe a better response would have been to ask, what were you running your car on before? If it wasn't Optimax or equivilant then I can understand a noticeable performace difference, if not then you're probably imagining it. And I say this in a completely 'non jumping down anyone throat way'.

I didn't notice that much of a difference in out right performance but the car is running more smoothly, particuarly when coming on boost. Feels more comfortable over 6,000rpm also... with V-Power it runs somewhere between how it did on Optimax and Optimax plus booster. V-Power plus booster is now very nice.
To put it in perspective though, we are definately talking about small improvements! Nothing spectacular ofcourse but enough to notice. All depends on the car though too - mine is running an aggressive map so perhaps benefiting more... pleased I don't feel like I need to put the booster in all the time anymore.

Most of the time i used tesco super unleaded but have always found supermarket fuel to me crappyer that shell or esso high octane fuel.
Whatever the outcome of this thread now, i have noticed a difference (however small) using v-power and the majority seem to agree with me.

Well at the end of the day one thing is for sure......Seeing as the price has come down from ridiculous to scandalous!!! Gordon brown will be putting it again at the end of this month...

But it's not all down to just the RON rating as posted up earlier. There are other factors such as rate of burn, calorific value etc...

Put a quantified, empirical test up here, Ben. 0-60, 0-100 etc, with the different fuels in. I'm not in the business of believing "Emperor's New Clothes" stories. I have a standard turbo, and I CANNOT TELL THE DIFFERENCE between normal UL and V-Power- and that's a four point difference. It's bollocks.
