I also have a 7 year old plec that's around 8" long.
I feed them on Tetra Prima Granules at around 5pm and drop in some algea wafers at night when the light goes off.
The fish are very active and all six loaches will be swimming up and down the glass from 4pm when the light comes on, they settle down after feeding but are still very active. Give them some shelter so they can go and hide if they want.
