I start mostly with about 5000-5500rpm then lift the clutch and at the same time get full throttle sometimes it's perfect, sometimes the clutch doesn't want to get all the lb/ft to my gearbox
it's a standard classic turbo @ 1,2bar
sorry if my english was bad..

"I think somethings broken!"

he he
I think your right! When I have run at santa pod I try to not come off the clutch too abusively and perhaps slip it a little to get the revs up higher ( launching at 5500 rpm) and to load the engine up more, remeber if your too harsh your putting a heck of a lot of strain on things, and dont incorrectly as the Silly Yanks did in that video

Managed to get a 13.4 from memory which is what an STI MY03 PPP is quoted to do.

things break

I have done almost 40K on my std STI (my03) clutch... it has just been changed for another std STI one as I am a cheap skate and couldnt afford the EXEDy one I wanted...
Std STI one is badged as Exedy anyway! ?? Cost me 75 quid for the friction disc and an afternoon to fit, and now it feels great again...

Still 40 K and the abuse I give the car quite often im quite happy

I guess it just takes time to get used to how best to launch....

My old Audi Quattro Turbo used to love 4 Wheel spins when it was launched at 5500 rpm and just dropping the clutch, the clutch NEVER Slipped and lasted for over 100 K miles! When is did 4 wheel spin it was only momemtary and then the amount of traction the car had was phenomenol!

Dont make em like they used to

Stop looking at that rev clock - use your ears

Reserve your eyes for looking at the road

It's probably just me, but back in my early rebelious yoof, the cars I would "launch" didn't have rev clocks (well in truth the one did, but it didn't work ). So I kind of got into the habit of feeling/hearing for the best launch revs.

think tbh thats the best way, also you'll know sooner rather than later of problems, so hopefull catch them before major damage to car

Yes. Sunday 28th.

Was yours the Sonic Blue, 2.5l with a GT30 etc?

If so I have a vid of our run together

I ran 12.03, 12.10, 12.11, 12.11, 12.24, 12.25, 12.50 and a 13.6s when I launched in 2nd. All heads-up and all wins

I do hillclimbs and sprints in a WRX STI, best technique I've found is to adopt the hillstart position just before your planned take off. Usually get between 2.00 and 2.06 to the 64" marker

Can't resist:

5500/6000 and lift the left leg asap.
Trick is to change to 2nd at the right time as usually the change in inside the 64 foot marker.

ive not much experience in dragging at all but ive done a launch or two now and again and I too blip the revs rather than hang it.

I increase the revs and let the clutch out slowly til its ready to move then I blip the throttle quite fast keeping the revs between 5000-5500. then i tend to only press accelerate not all way down (as ive released clutch) and as i release clutch fully at same time fully press accelerate hard once traction has been achieved.

I tend to spin tyres more when i habg the revs rather than blip throttle.
