Taking the pills on their own is no good, you have to exercise hard to get the full benefit.
I bought a bottle of these http://www.prohormones.co.uk/acatalog/Rage.html and before I go for a run I take one and believe me they *do* work for burning fat.
I come back and I am sweating buckets, have no appetite for the next 8hrs yet am still able to sleep fine.
Do a Google for ephedrine and you will see exactly what other people think.
