And now for "lack of imagination carshagger".....
And a Cayenne Turbo or other big SUV can be for fun, achieves that and numerous other purposes and, as proven in the Cayenne's case, rip the **** out of most things on a track.
So by your own reasoning, a Cayenne is no longer pointless.

And I'm not sure what the motive behind buying them to wind people like me up, I don't give a toss about the environment, it's just ridiculous around schools in London near where I live (St Johns Wood, Hampstead) with all the huge 4wds everywhere with astonishingly rude mothers.

Maybe if you dragged your **** out of London, and explored more of the United Kingdom, your opinions would be better balanced as you would have a wider point of reference

2) They use not that much more fuel than your turbo 2000. I was lucky to get more than high teens in mine when I had it.
3) The SUV's occupy no more road space than any big MPV and any mid/large saloon estate.
4) Have you ever owned, spent time in or driven an SUV? They offer a lot more in terms of the driving experience than simply (and rather stereotypically) making the driver feel "hard". Maybe so many women drive them because they make them feel "safe" from blokes like you with "issues" - Ever considered that??
5) There are too many cars in the urban environment full stop.
6) You have an Impreza for fun and you are worried about the environment????

Evo put them against each other a couple years ago, and although the RS6 was quicker round the bends, the Porsche was VERY close to it. In fact if I remember right, the Cayenne was quicker in a straight line. Will have to check on that though !! But certainly an RS6 would NOT run rings around a cayenne.
The Cayenne, and the X5 for that matter are bloody quick, and would beat quite alot of cars both in a straight line and round the corners !!!
I myself quite fancy a X5. Would probably be the Diesel though, but I want one, not so I can feel "Hard" but cos I quite like them. They are luxurious, comfortable, and safe. It is my choice whether I drive a Cayenne, X5, Clio 1.2, Mondeo 1.8 LX, or a Ferrari.
If we all drove the same vehicles, life would be pretty boring. Indeed yourself have owned a VW Passat, and a Audi A4 soft top. One's a poor mans Audi, and the other is a Girls posing car. Some people would say that if you drive them "Your a Tw@t", but it was your choice to own them, so don't spill your cr@p about anyone who wants to buy a Cayenne JUST because YOU don't like them.

Deep, to answer your question,
I love the turbo Cayenne, it's a car I would love to have and I wouldn't give a toss what other biggots feel about it.
I remember having one glued to the **** of my STi, I could only shake it off on corners, when we were back on the straight he was all over me again, great cars.
I also love RS6's, 4.8 X5's, Range Sports etc, buy what you want, don't be influenced by what a few gob****es on here say.

Ok, I'll chip in my tuppence worth.....
I currently drive an X5 4.4is, I was bought for a number of reasons...
1. I like the looks
2. I like the reliabilty and the BMW warranty if anything does go wrong (although this is changing and I can't be bothered going into it now)
3. I like the driving position
4. I like that my wife likes it and feels very safe drving my 2 year old daughter around in it.
5. V8 noise.
6. I like all the toys..it's fully loaded with gizmos.
7. I like that it drives like a car and not a barge.
8. I like that it makes me look like a 'hard' drug dealer
I don't like...
1. the performance....a bit sluggish.....although I suppose everything is relative..I have owned scoobies and an evo before.
2. economy...I am getting 18mpg....don't care about the cost, but would like a little more performance for this consumption
I now in the process of looking for a change and it will either be
An RS6
or
A 911 and a people carrier
oh....and through experience i have found the antiSUV brigade have rarely been in one never mind tried the driving experience. It's all too easy to jump on the Clarkson 'we hate suvs because of the school run' bandwagon....just because it make a good sound bite, doesn't mean it's true.

It sounds like Audilover and scoobgez are trying to compete for a '**** of the year' award. We've got Audilover who used to drive a a4 soft top ie the gayest car in the village and scoobygez who keeps his scooby for 'cruising and listening to the burble'. Is the burble from the car or his arsehole after a heavy night of 'cruising'

When did I say it was 'necessary'? All that wind in your hair driving your gayboy cabriolet has messed with your memory
