Can I use an STi Air Temp Sensor & Apexi-PFC to measure Charge Temps

I know my latest remap (with the sensor wired into the Power FC on my v4 WRX) IS actually taking charge temp into account as far as timing goes. IIRC once it gets over 40 degrees it pulls it back, but I might be wrong about the exact point. I think something had to be done on the laptop to get this working. Prior to this, I could get a temp display up but it was just a display and didn't affect the mapping AFAIK.

had to bring this old topic back..
Where was STI V3-V4 intake air temp. sensor located and how it looks like? Is it a small thermistor located in the maf sensor or a unit pictured below?

I don't know where the STi airtemp sensor was located, but the one I bought was black plastic probe with a 2 pin plug in the back.
I have fitted it where the PCV used to be.
Unfortunately it picks up way to much heat from the manifold and reacts too slow. I will have to grind down the material some more from below the sensor itself, and maybe drill/thread a hole in the TMIC instead to get it in better airflow.
But it works :-)

As you say, they react slowly and the manifold wasn't the best place to fit it.
I can't think why they were fitted in the first place as they won't be showing true conditions.
Does your ECU take any other type of sensor like a pt100 or thermocouple?
They are slim enough to fit directly into the TMIC to throttle hose.
