i have just worked out i spent £10,000 in the last 18 months on fuel for scoob. Considering the car was £10,000 to buy its quite laughable really. Oh well i still love it and wont be getting rid of it anytime soon.

In some countries NUL is below 95 RON. On a global perspective 95 RON is considered a SUL grade of petrol and hence the sticker. The car will run forever without problem on 95RON.

you paid tax on your fuel 70ish%, then to take the **** just a little more, they charge you another 17.5% of vat when you pay, but think about that for a while they dont charge you vat on just the fuel, they charge you vat on the fuel + the tax amount thats on that fuel. so you are paying tax on top of tax!!!
its a nice little money maker charging 17.5% for tax they put on there, its not like tax is a service and/or goods lol

don't forget that about 25% of your wages has already been deducted in tax+ni
out of my wage(about 30k inc overtime)taxman ends up with just over 14k of it

£5k a year. that would pay my mortgage every month for a year!
but you do see all the politicians in there nice v8 mercs and jags, with huge fuel economy benifits. send them all about in some nice kias or daewoos for a year, see if they like having to be driven in small cars, like theyre trying to make us do. (not incinuating a scoobs a small car).
three words...
waste of space!

I realised that I was paying a massive premium for image alone, as 99% of the time you could get from A-B just as fast in any other car due to congestion and traffic calming etc.

i can see where your at mate, but even if i was driving a 1.2 corsa of something like that, it would still cost me a helluva lot more to run than say 10 years ago. that the point people on here are making. so because the price of fuel has shot up it basically means buying a diesel to keep costs down. why should we be forced into that, when petrol prices could and should be much fairer.
the image thing is correct as a-b times are the same, but that should be our choice for owning a scoob and petrol/ deisel prices should be fair no matter what car you drive. im sure the chavs in their rust buckets would say the same "innit dat these price$ r totlly wack".
it shouldnt be the car you drive thats the problem here, the cost of fuel is. driving a scoob makes no difference to me. 10 years ago my wrx was doing 20-25mpg it still is, but the petrol i put in it is at an unfair/extrortionate cost.

i am bored with these petrol threads TBH
if you can not fill up your scoby without wingeing about the price, might be time to buy something a bit more sensible

from the duty and tax/v.a.t. side of it though it is ridiculous as the roads never get any better, and the government just waste the tax they get off us lot. but i suppose if your in a £50000 rep or amnagers job your laughing right? (thats not a stab at anyone on here btw)

Its not that I cant afford it,its just id rather be spending it on things, like a new plasma tv or on my son for examole not giving it to new liars so they can **** it all away on welfare for those who cant be arsed to work and their dolden plated pension schemes.
I would not begrudge the extra tax if it was going on roads, but you only need take one look around here to see it isnt
I remember when I 1st got a scoob , optimax was 81p a litre and I still moaned even then

Well you're an idiot then. I have loads of self respect and don't have to rely on a car's image to prove myself. I don't HAVE to drive a golf tdi, I choose to.
