Thanks everyone, fantastic info. I need to find a dulux trade paint stocker near me. I'll ask around. So if I've understood correctly I should go for either vinyl, flat or diamond matt. I can also go for acry egg shell.
My ceiling is a newly made false, which together with all the walls have just been skimmed to what I believe is a very high standard. Does this alter the choice at all?
Sincere thanks again to all those giving excellent advice

new plaster walls or ceiling... make sure you thin the paint down.. really well. or it will suck the water content out the paint straight away.. making the paint lie think on the surface. better to have more coats than one/two thick ones.
trouble come when its all dry... someone then puts cellotape on the wall.. peels it off and the paint comes off with it.
if you thin the paint it will soak into the new plaster. brushing the first coat makes for a better painted surface too.
