2 Years ago, some complete ******* ran my Bro’s cat over, We were all devastated, I was surprised at how much it affected me TBH. When she was a kitten I used to go on every night and play with her (I am not scared to admit that I’m a big softy at heart), so when the phone call came through at work telling me that she was dead, I shot straight there.

You don’t realise how attatched you become. Don’t get me wrong, she was a grumpy little **** most of the time, but she had a certain charisma and charm no one could resist

Least Morgan didn't suffer

Off topic I know, but thought I’d share

not off topic at all RMA. Thanks for sharing and your a top guy for being a big softy at heart , lot of men out there trying to be something they are not and woman too of course, but at the end of the day we're only kidding ourselves by not admitting how much we actually care about something that has made a positive in our lives no matter how small or big cat or dog ,budgie or any animal (including humans) that we have formed a bond with .

Strange thing is, when Morgan died - a stray turned up and adopted my bro (Oscar) - He's a massive cat, and so soft - cant believe no one has missed him

He's very loving for a Tom cat, worships the ground i walk on, the only time we fall out is when i'm house/cat sitting like last weekend & he wakes me at stupid times!

Really sorry to hear about your Budgie duSTI's PA. I am an animal lover and I understand how you feel. Nothing wrong about being as concerned about a pet as a human in my book.

We have got a black cat called "Floyd" and he has been with us for 19 years, He is still amazingly fit, spends a lot of time in the fields around here. He is a real character and we dread the thought of him passing on.

Tragically, this morning I woke up and came down to find Molly our 13 year old spaniel lying there motionless, the tragic bit was I got my hopes up and the ****** was still alive, I thought that seeing as she had 25 quid on a haircut yesterday she would cark it to show her appreciation but no shes still there. I can see myself on record breakers in a few years telling Cheryl Baker about the world oldest dog that we own.

So sorry about your Budgie but even sorrier that our dog is still stinking the kitchen out, dumping anywhere she chooses, barking at nothing, farting, seeping fluids, costing money, getting under our feet, bouncing off the furniture (blind), being lumpy, tearing the grass up and generally being a pain in the ****, dont you feel sorry for her, she is treated well and shes the one sprawled in the sun and its muggins here sat in front of a pc in an office in Rochdale !

Anyone else finds this happens to them when they lose a cat ?

happens quite a lot to people I know with cats, when they lose one, miraculously another one appears, maybe its a cat underworld out there

Sorry to hear of your Budgie, we lost a hamster that we had only a week, got another one from the shop but try explaining to the kids how he transformed from beige to black fur overnight, they even kept the same name, and had a burial ceremony for them (I had to go and remove it later on, cos of my cat getting at it) but we put a plant in the ground for them, which sadly the dog chewed up

the other hamster is still going strong despite having a huge tumour on its ear, the occasionally bleeds and swells up so big, then bursts, but she doesnt seem too affected by it

Dustis PA
My heart goes out to you, i've got to make that decision shortly, my cat bubbles (i did not choose the name he was an adopted recue cat) has been a part of my family now for many years, sleeps at the bototm of the bed at night moans if you move too much at night, in the morning when he decides its time to get up he wakes us up.
Oves our company and is very vocal, the local kids know him and when we lived in croydon the workers in the factory next door would often say goodbye to him when leaving.
So as you can gather a very vocal, gentle and intelligent cat.
Much loved by everyone that meets him.
3 weeks ago a lump appeared and started spreading so off to the vets a biopsy was done and we awaited the results, in the interim the lump spread he went out less and spent more time on the bed, this still did'nt stop him "telling" us what kind of day he had
Last couple of days hes been layng in the bathroom as its cold he's also started to have trouble walking as his paws swollen up, still tho when we get home he wobbles to his feet and greets us.
Also a couple of days ago we got the results its a nasty /cancer/tumor and its just a matter of time - days to a week.

Its gonna be the hardest decison ive made but its got to be done, he cant suffer, i just dont want him to go.
Last couple days i've cried.

Make the most of your little ones you never know how long you'll have them.

God Bless

Wilkoca

I am so sorry to hear about Bubbles,it's such a shame when things like this happen. Bubbles does sound a right character though but you will do the best by him and he will love you for it, it is such a hard decision it's not one that I rreally wanted to make , but you have your family around you and and it will be for the best.

And yes we should make the most of the time we have for our loved ones.
I think that I have learnt that more than anything from this thread ,from the comments and other peoples stories that time is very precious and that we should should cherish the time with loved ones Pets and Humans cause one day they just won't be there and it'll be too late, so live life to the full and enjoy the time we get to spend with each other and the ones we love.

We used to have a tortoiseshell cat with a beautiful personality until she died in my arms of a heart attack. I was affected exactly the same way as you haroldhett etc.

I've had my dog Olly for just over a year now, he's been hard work and a pain in the **** at times, but I can't bear the thought of him not being here.

Had my first dog when I was four, a Golden retreiver called Hamble, best dog anyone could ask for. Had to have him put down after he went blind and off his legs. Still miss him now. Found some photos of him the other day carrying the biggest log ever, another one of his party tricks.

Really sorry to hear about your Budgie duSTI's PA, I hope you get thru it ok. We're all thinking of you.

Thanks Dan , I know she is only little and not everyone likes budgies but she is my little girl and she makes me smile, she means the world to me, not looking forward to it at all, but I have the rest of the week with her.

Hi All

I started this post way back in June 2006 when I was under a diffrent name duSTI's PA .

Today I had to take budgie to the vets , she had been getting treatment from the vets since last year because we decided to give her a fighting chance so she started on a course of treatment however it was not working and the vets recently took some bloods from her to do some test's , they came back and he confirmed she had a cancer and the tumor had got so big that it was putting a huge amount of pressure on her lungs , so after talking with the vet for 30mins , I made the decision to have Budgie put too sleep and and let her rest and take all the pain away from my little girl .

I knew this day was coming but I really did not expect it to be so hard and that I would feel so bloody upset .

Budgie was a little star.

Got a six month old black lab and she's a MAJOR part of our lives now.
We've had to leave her with relatives for a day a couple of times and found it quite hard.
Nothing like a loyal pet greeting you at the end of a hard day!

Sorry to hear about the budgie - I knew a lady that kept them and they were real characters.

Can someone honestly say they'd get reall emotionally attached to a stick insect, goldfish or tarantula though?!
