I used to get mice in the house when I lived in Cornwall, but now in Dorset have one that helps himself to the food I put out for the birds but never comes near the house, I think they must just be more independant the futher north you go, can anyone from Nottingham or above confirm that their mice just stand at the bottom on the garden in winter in a vest looking hard?

that is no mouse... if it 'was' it would be the Daddy of all mice.... found it cowering at the rear of our garden yesterday afternoon after my dawg had cornered it, give it a few freindly 'taps' so I dispatched the verminous little ****** with a spade..
(killed the rat, too )

A family of "meeces" have been living off the bird seed in my shed for the last few months, and being as untidy as I am, they'd been climbing into this big plastic tub where the food was, via all the wrappers.

One afternoon, I tidied up. The meece didn't know that though, and 3 of them still dived into the tub, expecting to get out...

They couldn't. When I next went into the shed, I spotted one in the tub that looked as though it were sleeping. It was, permanently. Then the gruesome bit became clear. Also in the tub was the skeleton of a mouse, and the half-eaten remains of another.

Since then, I have caught 5 in my humane trap, and released them all into the fields, about 2 miles from my house.

yes.... its called the food chain!

Not only did you callously (sp) murder a poor lickle mouse (probably still breast feeding) you deprived your puddys of a decent meal

p.s. don't suppose you fancy adding one or more to the collection do you? I may have to rehome mine
