Good god man, no wonder the two bit pig wiped his feet all over you. You have no backbone son. Do you mean to tell me you just took all that like a tuppenny bitch?

Do people not stick up for themselves any more? In my day it was a phone call. One phone call. Sorted. And if you didn't have the contacts then you'd sort it yourself.

Sell the car to your dad indeed! Wretched. Truly wretched.

Of course you should complain - he caused you unecessary inconvenience and botheration, so you should give him a taste of his own medicine. You could also reasonably ask to be appropriately compensated.

If that's not good enough, another reason that you should complain about his attitude is because he gives other cops a bad name.

I don't suppose putting standard plates on in the first place was an option?

People dont complain enough in this country of ours.. If i were you i would defo complain and send it as high up the chain as you can. Tell them you now have to take the time out your very busy working week to write the dam letter etc, despite everything being legal on your car.. and as has been said, get the appropriate compensation, traveling costs etc too..

Why should have to when his existing plate is legal ?

Or should he just settle for the quiet life and appease this jumped up **** ? Neville Chamberlain tried that and see where it got him.

(comment made assuming the facts are as described in OP)

Make a complaint!!! maybe not the right thing to do but this guy sounds a right bully boy - and bullys need standing up to.

If it was a local bobby i'd say dont bother - 'cos they all stick together and you'd end up getting pulled every two minutes - trust me they do actually do this.

Saying that - did you say he was a Scouser - you should have accused him of being racist with you being a manc and all - he woudl have crapped himself

Let us know how you go on.

Cheers Cheif!

for those that havent seen the plate, I have decided to post a pic.

as I said, I didnt like the way I was treated for a crime that hadnt been comitted, you can make up your own mind if you think it is illegal or not.

Possibly I was more targeted through jelousy, he had all the equipment that checks to see if cars are insured, taxed and mot'd before he pulled me, you tell me if you would pull it because of the plate.

Ha ha - looking at the car i'd bloody pull you as well - dodgy git

you really could have some fun with this. fill the car up with some really big bald headed suited up geezer's and wait outside the police station for him to come off his shift - when he looks across give him a wink and a smile.
(do not follow him home)

I bet the look on his boat (cockney slang coming out there) will be priceless

the boarder is 15mm all round, the digits are 50mm wide and 79 high. the legal minimum for the boarder is 11mm, so it's well within the law go and measure yours, you will find that the plate is the same size height as a standard front/rear plate,110mm high.

If his attitude was unnecessarly rude and overbearing, then I would write a polite letter to his chief constable saying that that is not the way to improve relations with the public. Write "copy" in the bottom left hand corner.

Nothing wrong with that plate anyway.

Les

IMO it's worth a letter to the chief and/or a complaint.

If you do that, expect that you'll maybe get pulled once or twice.

If you get pulled repeatedly and you've done no wrong then that's a far more serious affair. Gather the evidence and make a further complaint.

Only problem is if they catch you speeding ONCE during any "imtimidation", that exhonourates (SP) them and they'll continue doing the same.

It comes down to balancing taking it further with any possible recriminations.

PS: A sneaky b'stard would take potential recriminations into account when making the complaint and give him enopugh rope to hand himself out to dry.

what you mean is make sure nothing else on the car is illegal before writing the complaint?

as I have said, i have had no problems whatsoever with the Greater Manchester Police, just this one from Liverpool, and I rarely visit the area, so hopefully I wont be targetted as i go about my usual business.

I do change my car quite often, however, I keep the plate

I usualy tell people Young National Front 1, and yes everyone, but then laugh

it's a plate that has been in the family for years, and meant so much to my dad, apparently an early manchester plate from when the DVLA put districts on plates. He passed away just after I got it for my 21st. Somthing that I will never sell.

Labour's new Home Secretary's opening address was surprising, to say the least!

Haven't been pulled over since!!!

They arrested me in work, walked me out in front of my collegues (although they were nice enough not to handcuff me), drove me to the police station, locked me in a cell for 3.5 hours, took my fingerprints and dna and photos, then released me.

Wasn't a happy bunny.

All because i looked a 'little bit' like an e-fit the police had released!!!
