I hammered a sportsbike round a corner this morning and then we got to the straight.......................................... ............................!!!

So what mods and money is involved in getting an FQ300 to 350bhp. Could you get one to 370-375 for reasonable money and it still be reliable? Is this 350bhp a reliable figure or is it more likely 330bhp out on the road and 350 on the rollers? I'm not having a go, I'm asking serious questions as I'm considering chopping the Honda for something a lot faster.

To get back on topic...

350 doesn't sound like it's had much work done to it at all. Mine was 328 with nothing more than a decat.

Kenny, if you want to see how an Evo IX with fuel pump, remap and exhaust goes you are welcome. High 11sec quarters have been done in this spec - not be me though! Does about 400 BHP (399 BHP at Dastek before I improved the fuel mapping). I remapped mine with an $80 cable Powerful bikes come past at lower speeds though.

I've passengered in a 340 BHP Classic Scooby overtaking an R1 when it had to back off because of an undulating section that the Scooby on good suspension could take flat out. I know I've driven a 400+BHP Classic Scooby and sat in an R1-GSXR1000 sandwich for a mile - the GSXR1000 got past at lower speeds then the R1 sat at my rear quarter panel and then pulled back in behind and stayed there, unable to pass. I think the Evo because of its extra weight is probably closer to the 340 BHP Classic Scooby in terms of performance. When there is other traffic in the way it is obvious what the bikes can do. When there are straights and acceleration from 30-120 the bikes are supreme. At higher speeds through bends and twisties many bikes seem to hold up the better Scooby/Evos, but after reading about problems of a GT2/dead biker I just keep out the way of bikers now for their safety. If I was on a bike I certainly wouldn't want a hero in a rally replica all over me on the bends/yumps.

Bikes used to eat my M3, simply no contest anywhere, even over the bumpy stuff.

Different tools for different jobs though.

well first off thanks for getting back to the thread.

i bought the car like it , i just knew it wasnt standard.

i know its got a hks induction kit and its d-catted .

when driving its just feels like a right grafter.

once the turbo kicks in all hell lets loose.

having owned m3,m5, uk sti and spec c , evo 6, this evo is quicker than all of them.( spec c still the daddy).

i think powerstation has to have a look see whats gone on.

Quicker than an M5??! Seriously!? Are you sure it doesn't just 'feel' quicker.

my spec c was quicker.

m5 big and brutal

pont to point and all out fun either scooby or evo better fun than m5

ONLY IN MY OPINION NO OFFENCE TO ANY ONE

I REMEMBER pissing a m3 driver off on the m5 moterway no matter what he tried he could not get close to me.

but m3 drivers appreciate the luxery side of things( i guess again no offence made)

got to be carefull on here

M3s are slow and bouncy though, we shouldn't be afraid to say so.

John I know you'll have done your homework....can you get an FQ300 to 360-70bhp for sensible money £1-3000 all in (potentially picking up some 2nd hand bits) and it be reliable?

Gatty,

Which Spec C was that then?

You want to get in the Spec C now with all the mod's done...... you might throw away the keys to your EVO then!

Glad your impressed with your EVO though mate, cracking motors. I was offered a FQ300 the other day for a very good price...... it took will power to walk away, and also the fact my garage aint big enough.

Regards,
Shaun.

pack it in.

just to make things worse my evo has just gone into mitsubishi with some quite major problems, they think either the gearbox has gone or the diffs are shagged? with only 12k on the clock might be looking to px it one the warrenty work is completed . i think i will stay with the evos extreme are selling some tasty gt 400's.

i will see what the outcome is on monday.

please spare me the evo jokes

Need to get my Evo on the rollers to see how much power its got before I get it mapped.

Just bought a Apexi Power FC and commander this week, already got a full 3" decat exhaust system, fuel pump, HKS filter, HKS blow off valve and Apexi AVC-R set at 1.3bar of boost, so hopefully it will be as close to 400bhp as I can get it with the Ecu and map.

Anyone know a good Apexi mapper close to the West Midlands that can map my car!

400 BHP on sensible rollers needs about 1.5 bar at 6200 RPM on a IX I'm told by Sam, and my findings tally with that.

I'm a good biker and not a bad car driver either. A scooby or evo driven hard will stay in front of a bike, 600 or 1000 across a twisty B road. Any rider dumb enough to try and get past is counting the days even if they are not aware of it. It takes a lot more skill to ride a bike at the pace an average driver can do in an EVO across country, and Gatty might be a good driver?!!

On a well surface road with a good rider the bike is king though.

I'd not fancy trying to get past a 350bhp EVO across county when you dont know what the road surface will be like around the next bend.

Autocar last week 0-100 5.6sec Gixxer 1000 and stayed with a GP2 car up to about 180mph+

I love cars and bikes.
