I can't possibly forget. Having experienced the incredible speed of spool up when the car overboosts, I am looking forward to the same again, without the err.. overboost. Can't wait.

Haven't looked at the bbs for a while , but I noticed in the
cheques received post that you had a cheque from Mark Ward .
The cheque was actually from Mark Hunter and covered the cost
of a device for myself , Rob and ***** Callin.
If you can e-mail me so I have your mail address I can give you the postal addresses for the three of us.
Cheers

Please see this new post in Drivetrain.
http://www.scoobynet.co.uk/bbs/threa...ThreadID=55141
I have put it there to attract comments from a wider audience, including those who have used EBCs. Please comment with any ideas you have - there are possibly safety implications of running this device improperly without careful thought....

That's great Luke. Thanks for all your help in organising this.
I have been reading and thinking a lot about the best way to set this gizmo up, and it seems that the safest way is to install it before the restrictor orifice and leave the factory boost controller connected. Setting the Dawes Device to 9 PSI will lead to brisk spool up to that point, and thereafter the factory boost controller takes over. This will not raise your peak boost but will reduce wastegate creep and lessen the full boost on part throttle situation.
If you want to increase your peak boost as well, the other option is to disconnect the factory boost controller and intead run a restrictor or bleed valve after the Dawes to give the same effect.
Obviously there is some degree of adjustment available as to how high the Dawes goes and how much the dumb valve takes over. This setup mimics the TurboXS HP MBC which seems to be the most expensive and favoured option in the US but is more costly by far than the Dawes. For those interested see the factory forced induction forum on www.i-club.com/forums
It would seem that MY01 owners who still have their uppipe cats and install the device so as to give full boost at part throttle are at risk of high temperatures melting the cat and having bits fly at that turbo, shattering it and filling their engine with the bits.
You will also see my post in Drivetrain about tapping into the lambda sensor to have a reasonable estimate of the air:fuel ratio - I will be trying this before/after on part throttle and full throttle and will post results.

I have just finished fitting a 3 gauge pod (boost, oil pressure and oil temperature) along with a Lambdalink which I think looks the business. So hopefully I will be armed with the necessary information to be able use this boost controller reliably.
I would find it extremely useful if somebody could post pictures of fitting, with arrows pointing to where what should be fitted.
My car peaks at 16.5PSi and holds 15PSi. I would like to get the car to hold 16.5PSi/17PSi and still retain the PPP Ecu overboost cut.
Damian.

Luke, please email your address for the extra £1!!! I didn't keep it from last time!
Mr Banks, you wouldn't happen to be near Manchester to assist in the fitting when they arrive would you?? Or anyone else who is even remotely mechanical, unlike myself!!! I'll need more than pretty pictures! pumpers.
