Would have to say RS4
Guy i work with bought a 996 with GT3 kit....sold it after 3 months
Said it was very good for motorway driving, but nothing special on A roads (to be fair his previous vehicle was a 360bhp Evo). Also said the Porsche attracted too much attention

Thing with the rs4/6 is that they will continue to depreciate pretty hard, therfore the cost of ownership will be steep....whereas the 911 , if bought at a keen price/desirable spec will lose far less...I hope to keep the car max 1 year, and I only intend to lose about £3k...........I know thats a tall order but I use the same formula on all cars I have bought and even though its difficult to do, it keeps a lid on the saoring cost of driving nice cars....
Hope that makes sense!

I might have access to a RS4 Avant 58K mile 1 owner, totally immaculate. I was offered it a few weeks ago when the owner ordered a new RS4. It really is a mint car.
He wants about £25K. Noggy Blue and standard car.

Saying that if you can find one for reasonable money I'd be very tempted and just wear earplugs

turboman786 it sounds like you are in a similar situation to me, I've already owned a number of M3s and a Boxster 2.7 , have between 20k and 30k to spend.
I have an additional criteria to yours though - my next car must be 4wd or fwd. (The village I live in leaves me with over 5 miles of untreated hilly roads to travel along before I reach a main road during the winter).
I have narrowed my list down to 2 choices....
996 Carrera 4
Audi S4 / S4 cab
Either way I will make sure I buy a car with manafacturers warranty (extended on the Porsche as I will probably buy private - or main dealer on the Audi).

RS6 certainly sounds tempting, BUT is above my (already raised!) price limit, and whilst it is clearly an awesome car, the looks are a bit too subtle for me!
Looks like the 996 it is!........although finding a tasty example at a decent price is a tall order..soo many nasty 911s out there...awful 4 spoke steering wheels/nasty ruffled leather/orange lenses/plain jane wheels......what were Porsche thinking of!

I'd be tempted by a Noble M12, Lotus Exige or a TVR T350C if 2 seats isn't a problem. Afraid I'm not a fan of German cars so they wouldn't be on my list.

I have had loads of BMWs including m3 so Im not really keen to get yet another(even though they have all been superb cars)
Im after something with some exclusivity, pimpness, perofmance and good residuals...the 911 seems to tick all the boxes, but I thought it may be an idea to come on here for second opinions..
I dont mind how old the car is, as long as its a modern shape/design...
Suggestions please!

Wait a minute.... you will not spend 30k on a Jap car, such as an R34 GTR V-spec, which is much more exclusive and has excellent drivers appeal, I have only seen two on the road, but you would spend 30k on a suped up estate, which I see many times per day and yes different cars & drivers I am not saying its not an excellent car. However if I had saved up 30k, and then bought a car with the money, I would want to park it my drive and be able to walk away from it feeling chuffed with its drive & looks.
IMHO Porker or R34 GTR. Then again, its your money do what makes you happy-enjoy!
PS VX220 Turbo?

OK, don't laugh, BUT....
The Lambos are really bad to drive. (and as stated above, start from 50k). They do look good, but thats about it. I've driven quite a few and all I can say is horrible and tacky compared to a Ferrari.
Now, for 30k, you can get a decent Ferrari. Many different models to choose from, but make sure it's well checked out before you buy as you will be getting quite an old Ferrari for the money, but al least they are within your range.

Running costs should put an old ferrari or lambo out of the question if you intend to drive it more than twelve days a year. A TVR you'll need a folding bicycle in the boot for the journey from the end of your road to work everyday.
The RS6 on ebay looks incredible value for money, but as mentioned won't be cheap to own. The 996 is a great looking car, but if you are in, or near London or Cheshire, the "popularity" of Porsche's surely takes away some of the aesthetic value you are after?
A mate of mine just bought a Masserati Coupe for 32k, not the best car in the world but is a bit "different" looks wise which is his main factor, too, really.
What about an EVO FQ 360? Ugly, but if you're not on perma-grin after driving it.....

YES, Ive got £30k to spend, but its nothing to boast about, some people on here have a helluva lot more to spend on cars!
As for 'spending on a few cars', NO, you could get several cars for £30k, but you could only have ONE £30k car!!
As for not surfing the net, I think you'll find its the easiest and most cost eeffcetive way of finding a car.
Hope this clarifies things for you.
By the way how old are you?....(14/15?)
