About a mile or two.
On nice days the three of us set off to school and work. First stop is school for our daughter. Second stop is my GF and I walk on down to my work. Its all down hill so walking back is a bit of a mission
Non-stop takes about 20 mins walk. Come 3pm school kicking out time can take up to 30 mins in a car!! No traffic in a car can take 4 mins.

5 minute walk.
Bit of a trek compared to Markus, but at least I get out of the house and speak to people face to face.
I have driven occasionally though. Normally when i need to go into the next town for the bank at lunchtime though. After p1ssing about with the pay and display, then the walk to the office from the car park, it's saves all of about 1 minute by driving over walking.

17 miles each way for my 3 weekend nights. Going on friday evening can be 25-35 minutes plus, and coming home monday morning can be 20-30. The rest of the weekend is usually IRO 15-20 mins, although my record is 11 Keep meaning to improve fitness and cycle it, but after a 12 1/2 hour night, the prospect of 17 miles uphill and down dale, possibly in pi$$ing down rain just doesn't appeal, when the Scoob can do it in air-conditioned comfort with added thrills.

I'm doing a 100 mile round trip each day at the mo - and I can't wait for it to end! (Hopefully moving much closer in the next couple of months!)
I spend about 2.5 hours a day in the car and, because the commute involves either the M25 OR J11 M4, the only way I can do it in that time is to leave home at 6:30am and arrive home after 7:30pm.
Frankly at the end of the week I'm sh@gged! There is far more to life than work and commuting! I married my husband - not my job/ car!!
New house will be 20 mins drive with a choice of M/ways, A Roads and B Roads.
