LOL I finished it on the speccy, and in the arcade I think I got to the second or third level. Think I ran out of 10p pieces at that point

You think that's hard. Try playing the final mission on Aero Fighters 2 on the MAME emulator. It's very challenging. And Frustrating.

You need the GP2x version of the Emulator if you are installing on a gp2x? The installation instructions are usually with the emulator. But you don't get the kickstart rom files you need to get it to work.

The emulator can be had from here:

http://gp2x-emulation.dcemu.co.uk/

Or if you bought you're gp2x from www.gp2x.co.uk then you should have got a CD with all the emulators on it.

As j says for the Amiga (and AtariST) emus you need the actual OS ROMS (Kickstart for Amiga and TOS for ST) as well as the game ROMs. For things like C64 (can use Frodo or I use Vice as it supports C64/128 and Vic20) and ZX Spectrum these come with the OS ROMs so all you need to get are the game ROMs.

Have fun

Anyone running Doom (prboom) I cannot figure out how you 'run' as you need to do that on level 2 to get across the ledge and up the stairs to get the red key card. Tried all combination of keys, looked in prboom.cfg but cant see anything, help!

games go into the roms directory. You need the kickstart files, not the workbench files for it to boot up. Once you have the kickstart files, rename whichever one you want to use to kick.rom and put it in the same directory as the uae4all.gpe. That should allow it to boot up and then you press Select and choose the top option to navigate to the roms directory that contains the game images.

I would personally stick with the kickstart 1.3 as you're chosen kickstart ROM. Also the emulator only supports A500/500+/600 games and will not run the AGA enhanced ones I.e the ones desinged for the A1200/4000 machines.

Nope. AGA machines at the time used Kickstart 3.0 and 3.1. But the Emu for gp2x is a A500 Emulator, and hasn't been programmed to make use of AGA games (yet). Found this in the F.A.Q doc that came with the emu:

Q: What do I do if a game/demo/application doesn't work?
A: If you're trying to run a game or a demo, enable some slow RAM, and try
running it again. Some older software has compatability problems which
slow RAM can sometimes fix. If it's an application, check for obvious
things like Kickstart version requirements, RAM, etc. Also make sure the
software you're trying to run isn't for AGA equipped machines.
You can also try changing various other options, like the CPU type. For
games, sometimes "-C0c" will make it work.

Ah, that'll teach me to not read documentation Can't say that I'd tried any AGA games so wasn't aware that it wasn't supported

Yeah a bit weird ain't it. Especially as the other winAUE emulators on other platforms do support it. Keep you're eyes peeled.
