Should a classic WRX be noticably quicker than a UK classic?
I had a my00 uk turbo and before i changed to a full decat and tek3 remap .I had a jr panel and a dawes device and had a play with a 98 wrx and he had job keeping up with me so the quiker spooling up off the td04 over the td05 and a bit more boost makes a difference
WRX upto Sept 1994 won't be alot different to a UK from 1994 - 2000.
Upto 1994 WRX were only 240ps on 100RON, so that's probably about 220BHP (ish) on 97RON.
They will 'feel' quicker, however due to the different gearing.
They also run exactky the same boost pressure @ 11.47psi, but a slightly different ignition & fuel map.
Also to clear a few things up.. UK Wagons have TD05 Turbo's and are the same as saloons. WRX Wagons are TD04 and only 220ps. So a WRX wagon would probably be slower then a UK wagon or saloon.
Disagree, although the WRX wagon only runs a tdo4 it still produces more power than a UK version on correct fuel.
UK Turbo - 208bhp
WRX wagon - 215bhp, with shorter gearing and a quicker 0-60.
Although the td05 has the potential to produce more power, out of the
box the WRX is quicker.

220ps is pretty optimistic though on a TD04 WRX Wagon, as it drops quite quickly from 10psi at 5400rpm to 6.8psi at 6200rpm.
A UK Wagon does'nt drop from 11.47psi until 5400rpm, then only to 9.47 at 6600rpm.

Just to confuse you even more..... The '100RON' fuel referred to here (and all over ScoobyNet) wasnt available in Japan until the 280PS D-Series Imprezas were released..... Japanese 'Premium Unleaded' had a RON similar to our superunleaded until then.
