being stuck behind a caravan

 

old codgers with their flat caps and blankets on the back shelf. they really get me, but what pissed me off this morning was being stuck behind a mk8, doing only 30mph, and out of the blue he decided to tunr left onto his driveway with no indication. bf honked the fool and we got returned with the finger. took a lot for my bf not to turn back round and deck him.

 

It's hard to single out a particular car; it's not responsible for the person who drives it afterall! It's more the bahaviour of the driver that makes me angry. If I were forced to pick one car, though, it'd be the Corsa. Around my way they are almost invariably driven by complete ***** with no regard for any other road users!! Again, not the car's fault- they're just popular with tools around my way.

I don't mind the slow coach brigade (you should drive at whatever speed you're comfortable with- there are limits of course- someone doing 30 in a 60mph zone is daft) as long as they don't get in a huff when you overtake them safely; that's annoying!!

It is just down to individuals and how (badly in some cases) they drive.


If i had to pick a group of people however it would be old codgers and with good reason

 

i think when you reach the age of sixty you should be tested again and if you fail then you should have your license taken of you. there are too many old codgers on the road that don't know how to deal with todays roads and wander why people like us get pissed with them.

 

Enormous 4x4's especially those with a set of Bull Bars in our very restricted town being driven by people who consider themselves to be so important that they can stop just where they want and cause an obstruction for their own convenience. They also feel they have the right of way in any situation.

I drive daily on a lovely stretch of wide and sweeping A road with excellent visibility and no sharp bends, but every single time I use it I get stuck behind someone doing no more than 40mph. I feel that if that's the fastest they feel comfortable going on that road then it's questionable as to whether they should be driving at all as they're obviously a completely nervous wreck

It's a bit like the numpties you see doing 40 or 50 on the motorway and causing big old wagons to have to overtake them.

 

There is a need for greater monitoring of older drivers. In fact the DVLA are looking into their licensing policy via an extensive consultation, as we speak.

However, we MUST distinguish between road behaviour we find irksome and behaviour that is dangerous!

Statistically, novice drivers, especially young males, are far more risky propositions, even when milage and car useage is taken into account! Do we take their licences the first time they get pulled for driving like ****?

these are the kind of people who i am talking about, get them retested and i bet half of them fail their tests.

 

n/a Impreza's with turbo bonet Passats [a lot], big car drivers that don't use their indicators and old people.

EDIT: Forgot to add people who buy crew cabs and drive them like they are in the Gumball !

Yes, its annoying, but you can always overtake. I wouldn't be comfortable, as a performance car driver, telling people that they MUST drive faster than they see fit given the conditions and their perception of their car's and their own abilities.

Like I said there are limits. There does come to a point when if someone consistently cannot make "reasonable progress" they should not be behind the wheel. I wouldn't be comfortable applying this to someone doing 40ish in a 60 though and especially not for ONE transgression! Remeber, we only see them driving for a brief time on one occassion; for all we know, they might be lost and taking it steady to look for bearings!

Also, remember the speed limit is technically that -a limit- not a minimum. It's easy for us to foget this.

Maybe all cities in the UK should have a handling and performance centre to test them on top of a normal driving test. If you can't do the track in under 3 minutes, you fail and have to pay to come back and do it again

 

It could happen. I believe new drivers are on probation; i.e. get 6 points in the first (3)? years and you're out. Driving without due care and attention or dangerous driving could see 6 points on your licence, as could breaking the speed limit by a wide margin.

I welcomed this step wholeheartedly. A car is a big repsonsibilty and young blokes in particular need to prove they can be trusted to behave!

Dear God man, opened a can of worms here !!

Ok, well since I drive around London, I seem to get more than my fair share of numpties.
In no particualr order:
London Buses..have their own bus lanes, but enjoy creeping into yours, cutting you up and generally sticking the proverbial at you, cos the ***** have got a little sign in the back about the sodding Highway code...well you can stick that matey where the sun dont shine.

Effing lost people and tourists who have just hired a fooking easycar and havent got a pigging clue where they are going, but have also lost the ability to use the rear mirror..****'s

The gits who drive the buses coming into London on the M40/M4 etc. The big national coach/oxford bus company etc. The minute they are in a 50 zone, wham!! straight into the outside lane, cut across lanes, generally make it unpleasant to drive those stretches..and they have the biggest, curviest huge mirrors..do they use them..do they **** !!

My dad used to say, find a traffic jam, shoot to the front and odds on, the car holding you lot up will be a small red car..and gawd how right he is, so for that reason alone..little red cars

Twatting big X5's/Mercedes 4x4 etc driven by some fanny who can hardly see over the steering wheel, hasnt got a clue of the width of their car, wouldnt even notice if they ran someone over and have that superior smug look on their faces full stop....dont be smug just about having higher suspension than me sunny jim (jane).

The little economical, city, ****ty silver town car, driven by someone in their 80's, with their mum or dad in the passenger seat !! drive the same way they did 50 years ago, when there were hardly no cars on the road, either ignore you and your attempts to gently shoo them over to the inside lane or gesticulate when you pass them, that you are menance to society and you were dangerously driving at 28MPH..wow lock me up now.

My parents live in Portugal and there on the main roads, motorways etc, they have a minimum and maximum speed. Please bring that into this country, or stop fools on the slip road and check that they can actually attain the national speed limit before joining said road.

Women who take 10-15 minutes to start their car and move off at petrol stations...what the fick are you doing woman (actually seen a few guys do this so not exclusive to the fairer sex)

People who have no basic concept of roundabouts...sheeez

My road rage came out when I was driving my cossie, I wanted too, and was more than capable of, killing every **** on the road.

You get a loads of neds in their council-estate special £2.5k 1996 5-series or something, thinking that everyone is looking at them thinking "wow they must be wealthy", but infact theyre thinking "tw@ts". Doesnt stop them driving like idiots, never indicating and parking in disabled spots because theyre "so important" and the car is worth so much

taxi drivers are the most ignorant ****** in the whole world, son gets dropped off in one and he can't even be bothered to wait for him to get out properly without trying to drive off. complete tosser, i'm gonna end up giving him a smack!

As for old drivers, I take them over young males any day. I'd guess that raising the licence age to 21 would reduce accidents as significantly as lowering the maximum. No idea what the statistics are mind you.

 

I don't really get road rage these days, but some things do make me more wary of other drivers.

1) Foglights on with sidelights when it isn't foggy.
2) Women with the rearview mirror angled so they can look at the kids in the back seat.
3) People driving with food/drinks/mobiles/cigarettes in their hands.
4) People wearing flat/baseball caps.
5) People with w@nker flags.

 

Fookin Mini Drivers, proto f*cking BMW drivers with the misconception that the oversized overpriced lump is in some way cute to excuse their crap driving, especially male owners, mr 25 year old, Salon Coiffered ****** haired GQ style magazine victim, used to get beaten up at school, no a Cooper S is not cool and not even all that fast, now unplug your Ipod and f*ck off and deceide whether you like girls or not.

The types are the daft office bints in a Mini One that have put the 299 down and now think they are gods gift, too busy reading Heat or texting the M8's whilst listening to some R and B ****.

Oh and 5 odd year old women who have not got any kids to ferry round anymore so they can have something a little more 'funky' and then dress twenty years too young.

And deffo the big off roaders, they may not be any worse than say the average Mini driver but they are so high up and cosseted I really dont think they have a clue how aggressive some manuevers can look, especially when accompanied they hoof it and it sucks in all the available air for a square mile. Basically I think its 50 % the type of person and attitude plus the fact they are so big.

Oh and Scoob owners that think they are cool.

 

Nothing tbh. But I obviously put others in a rage. As soon as they realise a woman is driving, some people love to sit on the bum end of my car, then race past as quick as possible. If they are hoping to get me to follow them, they are sadly mistaken.

 

Corsa's mainly but saxo's and 306's **** me off just seeing them for some strange reason!!
