They are correct saying that it has 256 fuel cells. But from that they should be able to give you a rough idea of the AFR at full load.

Thats providing they know where on the fuel map the car is hitting at WOT.

Judging by the super fandango Software they have developed I would of though that we easy to answer.

Obvioulsy every car is slightly different, but unless the car had a radical spec the ECU should be able to cope and be able to hit the target AFR fairly close.

With regard to the comment (1) from a guy thats fitted one. The learning process is very quick and should sort it's self out after 1 or 2 full boost runs. It shouldn't take days.

Any hesitation/jerking is either fuel cut (if violent), too rich/too much ignition retard (if it's mapped over safe), too much ignition advance and it's detting (but if it's jerking due to det I would expect very audible det within the cabin), or it's nothing to do with the map and he has faulty coil packs or a sticky boost Control solenoid.

P.S There is another set of map parameters that needs looking at IMHO. I blew countless chips for a mates 90,000mile WRX and it just kept detting. I was pulling timing, adding fuel all in/around the region of det. In some cases it was even getting worse despite the apparent map improvements.
It wasn't until I messed with something else within the ECU code that it settled down and was det free. Needless to say all maps since then have had the same modifications applied.

Hi.

Firstly, thanks to Nick for his efforts organising the Group Buy.

We are not authorised advertisers on scoobynet so I’ll refrain from any commercial posting but there seems to be some misinformation on this thread that’s worth clearing up. I hope the moderators allow us recourse to produce a balanced thread.

1. Fitment: It seems the majority of you are purchasing for imported vehicles, most of which will require a socket to be soldered onto the motherboard. This is a fiddly job and shouldn’t be attempted if you don’t have the relevant experience, as you risk damaging the motherboard. We can provide this service for you or provide an ECU on either an exchange or purchase basis, please contact for further details.

2. Map: Consists of data and code sections. The data section contains 2D maps such controlling fuelling, ignition timing boost targets and solenoid duty, 1D calibration curves for sensors such as the AFM and single parameter variables governing such items as vehicle and engine speed limits, injector rescaling, etc. The Data section is revised to have fuelling very similar to a z4, higher boost limits, less ignition advance and slightly more aggressive boost control. It does not run too rich, too lean, and have too much or too little advance. I can understand you wanting assurances as engine rebuilds are expensive, and I can tell you that we purchased 3 cars to soak test the map, a decat 93WRX and standard 96UK turbo and Sti2. We also had loan of a WRX wagon to develop the boost control for the td04 turbo. We have covered many thousands of miles, with diagnostics, without issue. Each board is placed in an ecu and run in a car to ensure correct operation before dispatch.

3. Running the map: As has been documented on scoobynet in the past, when the map is first installed and an ECU reset carried out, the occasional car with may develop a misfire. More often than not this is due to incorrect plug gap or ignition coils that are cracked under the boots and the system was getting away with it at the original, lower boost setting. It is nothing to do with the map and easily rectified. Most cars run fine from the off. The ECU has to refine its own parameters after a reset so please give it a chance to do so. If a car has a defective sensor or actuator the remap obviously won’t be able to cure that.

4. Remap software: This is a lite version of software we distribute to performance centres to adjust the data portion of the code in a user-friendly manner. It is in beta at the moment and has to complete test, then be packaged for Internet distribution. Help files are also being developed. As we are in the middle of developing a solution for MY97/8 Imprezas it has been subject to delays but will soon be freely downloadable from the Internet and allow you to create your own map for use with our boards. If you don’t want to play with the map, the postal map will work perfectly well in isolation. Even if you don’t purchase from us, it should be an interesting tool to play with and should help to demonstrate the data portion graphically.

Lastly, I’d like to say this is a good product, will make much more of a difference to your drive than any exhaust/induction kit/DV, and is at a very low price which could cause me grief with my distributor. Remove VAT and postage from £150; consider what the likely capital costs of designing/manufacturing the board and software is I’m sure you will see what I mean.

To those of you that purchase, please enjoy. For any more questions check the website at www.enduringsolutions.com or please email me direct at service@enduringsolutions.com and I’ll do my best to answer (though I’m not chained to my desk at weekends).

Best Regards

Andy

Mine is a UK turbo MY96. Can you confirm whether I can just plug into the spare socket and go or not?

If it's UK, then it just plugs in mate, you'll already have the spare socket empty.

Potentially 7 of us are interested here - so even if there are no more takers they should do some sort of a deal for 7. As long as the price is reasonable (around £160) then I will take one.

OK, Sunday night is the deadline!

People in the group buy must pay via Paypal (I'll PM the email address) ASAP after or on Sunday night. All people who have their name down must pay before we'll get the chips sent out. Chips will be sent by special delivery (next day).

Once the GB runs out on Sunday, we'll review the situation with Andy and I'll PM you any arrangement regarding cost of the chip. I know he is nearly undercutting his distributer, which of course, for him is bad news as he could well end up loosing him. Something he obviously wants to avoid!!

We'll get the chip at it's cheapest if we can get 10 people, so come on, Sundays near!!!!

Nick.

If the Z4 is an import ECU than it will need to be soldered in Bob. I haven't got that much expertise in soldering but I had a look at the ECU without the cover on, and it doesn't look that difficult mate.

1. Nick (MY96 STI V.2)
2. DannyW (MY94 WRX)
3.
4.
5.
6.
7. mike_94_wrx
8. Borat52(My93 WRX)
9. Riosingh
10. Ritch96

Whoever has their name down on the list will be contacted with a final GB price by myself as Andy will hopefully do us a deal if we don't reach the 5 for £175 or 10 for £150. You can then decide if you want to go ahead with the price.

We just need a handful more and we'll get to £150!!!! Come on!!!!

ESL may be able to supply you with the chip already in an ECU for a little extra, then you could flog your Z4 for 80-100 quid on ebay and probably be better off money wise than plugging the chip into your Z4. Just a thought.

OK - GB is now closed. Those on the list will get a PM as soon as I've organised a price!

Thanks,

Nick.

What advantages does this one offer over a z4?

As has been said, its supposed to raise boost significantly even over a Z4 map(16psi compared to 12.5ish on z4).

Right guys, going to be paying for these tomorrow morning, I'll send a PM to everyone with the final price.

If the people I'm waiting for don't get back to me, we'll go ahead regardless.

Thanks,

Nick

Nick,

Bit confused here mate. You have said I am in and need to pay £170 this morning but I have said all along I was in if it got to £150. You have also said if people don't get back to you then you will go ahead regardless? Is that at the same price or greater? If you could clarify for me it would be appreciated. Is everyone else in? 3 of the people on your "final" list said they would only be in at £150.

Cheers
Ritchie.

No, the chip is programmed for the original MAP sensor.

I got your last PM Nick, just a quick question, as mine is an import i will need the board soldering, which is something i definately dont want to do myself as ive never soldered in my life. Can you find if they will do an exchange for me? i.e. they send me the chip already soldered on that i can just plug in then i can send them my old one back?

Let me know mate!

Just fitted my ESL chip to my MY96 WRX STI V.2 and..........

WOW!!!

What a difference!!! Boost comes in slightly earlier, goes straight to 1.1 bar and holds to the redline! Also the first time I've filled with Optimax and no OB!! I had a permanant smile on my face, so much so my jaw is aching!!!!!!!

Anyone else fitted theres from the GB yet?

Big thanks to Andy at ESL
