Not in the same league as you guys, but the girlfriends scoob (95 wrx) had a manky gaitor and surround and after searching for ages, I finally found a place that does the chrome surround for that shape. However when they say it is "designed for that year", what they are really saying is " well it kind of works, but its a bit crap "
So a little bit of modifying was needed.
The old gaitor in horrible rubber
First problem was the Richbook gaitor had an elasticated bottom, which meant it would fit snugly around the gearstick, but then you would be left with a view into the gearshaft etc what a crap design and obviously not for this car. so 1st job was to unpick all the stitching, lose the elastic and then I drilled holes in the gaitor and fited it to all the plastic lugs around the surround. Glued it secure. 20 mins later you get this
Then next problem was the Richbook chrome surround. Again bad research by the suppliers, as:
The chrome bolts are threaded, yet you have to drill holes into the plastic surround, so no thread and also no nuts. So off to a DIY store and a bit of careful drilling and a few nuts to secure, you get this effect
done
Suppliers are all getting an email tomorrow, saying they need to tighten up on quality control before describing these as direct replacements

Something new
Ive been working on mounting 2 52mm gauges, a boost gauge and an wideband AFR gauge. The problem was where to mount them as I'm not keen on the pods people use.
So I have decided to use the centre vents. I wanted to leave one vent in but this didn't allow enough space for both gauges, so I have used the drivers side vent and modded it to fit. Have a look and see what you think.
This is where I wanted the vent.
Vent modded. Check out the plastic welding to make the small vent fit the larger vents housing. Its gotta work ya know!
Welded fascia and vent
Bit of filler added
Finished in primer with holes cut for gauges.

Agree with the Allen key being too small, but nuts aren't needed for the bolts, just drill a slightly smaller hole than the bolt and they sort of self-tap
Looks loads better than the sh1tty rubber gaiter though, top work
