You haven't answered my question. If they have gone to the bother of climbing in through the window, why would they "have" to use the door to get out?

It doesn,t matter if they went through the window as you would have left the car by opening the door.......so the door switch would have been triggered well before they got to your car...

dont make sense theres no way they can drive a 03 subaru with no key forget about blackjack and all the aftermarket alarms . no key no start sounds dodgy to me you cannot get by the chip in the ecu and key unless they have been in the car for along time to put there own ecu and dummy key to get around it .

it sounds to me that they knew all about the car where it was going to be and had a key for it which is the worst part sooo its someone that could have worked on the car in a garage as you would have to tell them about the switch so they could drive it in and out they could also order a new key for the car

I agree, someone who knew where the switch was, just tell the police thats the most likely way, as said they are not easy to get passed so either they are Real Professionals or they hd a copy of the key and knew where the switch was.

No offense but Professionals would not go for a scooby, why bother its pennys to them, they go for the big bucks - porsche, ferrari etc etc

That depends on their intentions for the car mate, A Ferrari would not make a good getaway car, which, as one of the posters said, is often what scoobies are used for.

Condolences to the poster for their loss. I hope the situation gets resolved to your satisfaction quickly.

Security seems to be a big issue with Scoobies. I see cars in dealers forecourts with wheel clamps fitted. These are also specified as a requirement for insurance purposes for touring caravans that are parked up for long periods of time.

I have never seen this type of security device fitted to a car parked up anywhere but why not?

I'm now going to review what clamps are available. They take 1 minute to fit, the car cannot be driven away quickly without taking the clamp off even if broken into.

It may be just another deterent to the scum that seem intent on taking our cars.

Any one else have thoughts on these clamps?

I have a wheel clamp, a decent one heavy duty one that clamps the whole wheel in three places, not a thin guage steel that clamps in one place (so could be bent and levered off).

I keep it in the boot for when I park in dodgy areas where I know the car will be left unattended for some time. I originally bought when I had my XR3 because even though it was alarmed to the teeth (dual sirens, internal siren, anti-hijack, separate immobilser, delocked and deadlocked) They still tried to nick it (unsucessfully - but did plenty of damage trying). So this was a last gasp effort (in combination with the autolock) to tell them visually not to even try and bother anymore (it worked). So it's a good deterrent.

I don't use it much now though, as :

* The car is worth f**k all these days (that's the scooby btw)
* I already use an autolock2000 (not perfect btw - just another hinderence), so it's just used as a secondary means of protection
* I get my hands dirty putting it on and off (brake dust)
* Its fiddly to get on and off (not enough gap between arches and tyre)
* If your heavy handed, it scratches the alloys
* This country rains too much
* It has a Lowe & Fletcher lock barrel (same type as used on certain brand steering locks) - which I have since been found out that they can be picked (or unlocked with master keys).

The only other thing that I've always wanted to add to my car's security was a smoke cloak system....on alarm activation, the car fills completely with dense smoke so makes it impossible to see what your doing. Also the clouds of smoke will attract more attantion than an alarm siren. Although the main reason why I wanted it was to use as a party trick

Barrier Deadlocks are great, they have stopped a number of our clients vehicles being stolen. We had a client who suffered an aggravated theft, if he had not had a barrier deadlock fitted, the thieves would have driven over him to escape.

Basically it allows you to lock your car into a gear, reverse up to a wall and engage.

I have a clifford and blackjax stopped workin after 2 days. Being a month now and haven't had time to go back yet get it sorted. With all these extra security devices fitting a manual fuel cut switch like the olden days hidden somewhere in boot on top of all this so called top alarm stuff will help as the scum taking it would never think of someone going hassle on new car as fitting a switch as well as alarm!!

This is what Daz was saying (D.M.P.D). But the reason I can't entirely agree is that for someone to have a clone key they would have to know where I was going or followed me. I live in a quiet road that is not a through road and there was no one around at all when we left. There are many car parks at the nac and they are flappin huge.

Unless of course by 'dodgy' you mean I was involved, which I assure you is not the case. We are trying to find out how it was done so we all can bennefit. Perhaps your car is not as secure as you thought?

There is an overide on our system which necessitates removal of a piece of trim and an action to be taken. This was done before it was taken to any garage for any work.

I was having a the same conversation with a fellow scoob owner earlier today. We agreed that some 'old school' security probably was not a bad idea at all!

Is that the barrel type thing that bolts through the tunnel? They do sound a good idea.

No disrespect to you pantelis as I am gutted for you, but what I dont get is why anyone steals an impreza anyway - and in your case it appears they have gone to some trouble to take it ??

Like someone has said its not like a ferrari or something that would be stolen to order and/or shipped abroad etc, they are usually used as getaway cars because they can seat 4 blokes.

But to be honest it shows how stupid they must be because if I was a police orificer (!) and i saw an impreza (or evo) with 4 blokes in at around 2am I would pull it over straight away and if it tried to run I would call the chopper up.

Maybe a 330d or 530d would be a better choice as it would attract less attention and would have a bigger boot for the swag. Theres plenty of people on here to tell them the scoobies arent that fast and dont handle.

Anyway hope you get your car back, although to be honest, If it was mine, it would break my heart to get it back if they had trashed it.

I agree, but at the end of the day once they have done therir bit, they can sell it on for a bit of money... that way it will get broke down for parts and hay presto, theres no evidence left.

Not true, the price of used scooby parts isnt that cheep, so it could well be stolen to order.

True, but most of the armed robberys that i know of that were carried out localy were done in broad day light.

Lots of thefts and lots of problems at Stoneleigh over the weekend.

In car Park 5 several high performance cars were vandalised.

Chav scum on mini bikes all over the place.

We saw a car attacked by chav scum on the way out, they were pissed up and throwing paint at cars, fukin vermin.

It was my wifes/ the family car and she just wants it back. It was special to US and no other scooby FELT as special as OURS. We bought it as a standard Uk Sti and made the mods we felt best suited us.

I have no idea why it was stolen but it was so there must be people who want them for one reason or another!

To be honest I live in Leamington and much as I love the place, there are more and more gangs of chavs getting about now.

In the local rag the other day a gang of hoodies over turned a Ford KA outside blockbuster at 9.30pm the other night for a laugh.

Imagine that you just pop out to drop a dvd back and come out to find your car overturned.

Should have put that in the initial post!

Visually - 18" prodrive ozs. Low WRX spoiler and cerise badge and its very shiny! Thats it.

Went for pro drive suspension and TSL 333 - i put PPP in the first post simply cos more people can relate to it. (not that its visual anyway.)

Im in Coventry. Spend some time in Leam though cos I know people there.
