Neil, you want to get 5ld drennan float line. Your proberbly better off getting a packet of ready tied hook links, size 14, bait wise, id go for luncheon meat and sweetcorn.

John,
some questions:
1. obviously I need some new line, what lb would you recommend, and would you tie straight to that or use a hook length?
2. Where is the nearest fishing shop from Hockley?
3. What sort of bait should I get? Maggots, sweet corn, hemp, ground bait?
also does anyone have a spare landing and keep net I could borrow, both of mine have rotted away.
Cheers

I would recommend if your using a match rod anyware between 5 and 8lb line. don't really matter what make mate as you probably wont use it for another 15 years
Like Matt said use ready made hook lenths....i would recommend for this venue size 12 or 14's
also a couple of loaded floats would come in handy.
i don't know the nearest shop to you mate, but there are a few in southend.......check the yellow pages mate for you local area.
what sort of real do you have mate?
and is the rod a carp rod or match rod?
ps.......i would not recommend any maggots as they only bring in small fry, like matt said use luncheon meat, sweetcorn, ground bait.

I will prob use a Mitchell Match 440a or 410, (I Know these are probably antiques now) or have a carbon Shakespear with skirted spool.
I can only find my Carp rods, so was going to use the softest, 1 1/2 lb test curve.
12-14's - wow I used to use 18 - 24 with a float, spaded hand tied! Do these have to be barbless nowdays?
Why loaded floats?.
Yep have checked yellowpages, there is a shop near me in Rayleigh.
Sorry loads of questions but it has been a very long time.

Dynamite baits, used by the likes of terry hearn and frank warwick. Do a great sellection of reay to use baits. Only trouble being, they are bloody expencive!!! To be honest mate you wont need any thing that advanced to catch at nounsly.
