To be reasonably and to be in the safe spot of the engine maybe around 370-380 reliable horsepower. The car is used as a daily driven car and often used at track day events, slalom events etc.

If I´ll keep the car next year I have plans to build a new 2.5 litre engine with a bigger turbo. But that is just plans now.

Johan,

Just a quick question, does your intercooler core have internal fins within the tubes to exhange more heat?

I have not seen anything like that in the hard pipes

I mean in the actual intercooler core mate.

Are the core pipes completly empty? or do they have internal fins?

A few new pictures from 3 day event this weekend. After 3 days of competition I ended at second place. I haven´t managed to test the centerdifferential before. After some testing with the DCCD i cut 3 second from the first run.

Yes I know ;-) but it was raining the first day so I didn´t have the energy to swap tires ;-) And I´m glad that I didn´t do that. In the semislick competition 3 Lotus Seven was top placed.

Johan, i'm still planning my Stage 2 (20g & induction), i'm also considering a FMIC.

How did you find the quality of the F4Online one? (do you have anything to compare it to?)

Also, did you notice much difference, any increase in lag?

The kit is rated a 10 from me without a queston, because none can compete with the price and performance You get. The finnish is also outstanding. I have friends that bought the APS DR725, Greddy and HKS FMIC and even they said that it´s a bargain. The only thing You have to know is that You can´t fit a Cold Air kit with this because it uses the hole in the fender that the Cak kit uses.
I've just found the info i was after.

The part about the Cak kit, is that just for flat4's FMIC, or is that for all FMIC? As i was planning to fit the APS inner wing CAK, to reduce induction noise.

Hi,

I have been on vacation and didn´t see Your question until now.

Some of the aftermarket FMIC uses the same fender hole that my FMIC kit does. And some other uses the other. You have to ask the supplier when You order to be sure.

I have plan to swap the AEM filter I use now for a K&N filter that sucks air from all the angle. Then drill out a hole in the fog cover and mount a plastic snorkle up to the filter. It already sucks air from the original air inlet pipe.

Hope this helps

Regards
Johan

A few new pictures from Bilsport Action event that was held at Mantorp circuit in Sweden.

Up on the Hill :-)

Up-lining to the RS track

Me (to the right) and Anders Block (Vice President of the Swedish Impreza Club) battles against each other "Who has the best looking Peltor helmet"

A little thing that showed up two weeks ago

Now I´m just waiting for the APS inlet pipe and the fuel rail. I hope they will show up this week.

In September me and a Friend has rented Gotland Ring in Sweden to arrange a track weekend (limited to 50 cars) again. This time there are even more powerful cars involved. I hope it will be the same sucess as it was last time :-)

Picture of the track. A truly beatiful landscape and the track is the best I have driven. In October me and some friends have plan for a trip to Nürnburgring, will post more info about that later.

Regards
Johan

Frays,

How is Your impression about the 20G compare to the stock turbo?

in a word awesome

all this talk of lag is a load of rubbish

stock turbo made 1.5bar by 3400rpm. 20g is only 3600rpm. I only know this from data logging as its completely unnoticable on the road and the high end acceleration is fantastic.

Finally the car now feels similar to my old cossie.

Still running the STI topmount and the charge temps are good. Boost is capped to 1.1bar at the moment due to more fuelling required. Still makes 285bhp @ the wheels though

Ok sounds real good. I have just recieved the 18G turbo. We will map the car to run 1.5 bar and also change the map sensor to the internal Autronic sensor. Then the stock boost solenoid will be changed to a 3 ports Autronic boost solenoid. I think my setup will have very little turbo lag.

Johan

Sounds cool mate,

Yeah i really like the map based ECUs although i think the newage stock ECU is very good too. Shame its only really lacking a few things such as not being "live linked", no launch control, anti-lag and it requires a MAF.

Although some guys in the US aere running blow through MAFs, i would like to see one of those.

Good luck with your setup,, maybe see you at Gatebil next year

This is really interesting to read about the 18g/20g turbos. I'm currently debating which one to get. I was all the for 20g, but now i'm also thinking about the 18g, just to improve response.

Johan, keep us posted on how you find the 18g.

For the improved spool and a loss of only around 10/15bhp, i'm leaning towards the 18g.

Have a graph from Andy F (thanks) showing the difference between 18g v 20g if anyone is interested in me posting it.

Decisions....Decisions....

Interesting to hear, what is the rest of your spec?

I think i'm gonna keep the TMIC, but can't decide on the turbo. Want lag to a minimum.

I first ordered the 18G because a friend of mine has the same turbo on his STI. But after some thinking I decided to try to cancel the order and go for the 20G instead, but It was to late. The company had just sent the order to the manufacturer so instead of pay a cancel debt of the production I decided to go for the 18G.

If I´m not satisfied I will sell it and go for another turbocharger. But now I have in mind to build a real good 2.0 litre engine (upgraded pistons, rods, camshafts, studs, head gasket etc) this winter with a Legacy closed deck block. But that Is just in my mind right now :-)

A Noble should be good also :-) Don´t know what to do yet.
