you're not kidding. It had had a 'polish' as there was a bit of fresh residue, plus they'd stuck some tyre black on, but that's it. The interior hadn't been touched, it had the same marks and prints I'd noticed from the test drive last weekend.
Looks like I'll be cracking out the swissol again

Thinking about, our NSX had "supaguard" on it when it was bought.
Yes it had been done. BUt whoever did din't prep the paint surface. So it all the washing and wear and tear scratches/matting/marring were still there, and it had been coated over environmental fall out (carbon deposits etc).
Car looked the dogs (well, it looks the dogs anyway ) But the paint felt as rough as a dog too- even though it had a lovely shine.
I've since removed whatever wax/sealer that was on there, chemically cleaned off the panals, Buffed out the scratches with the polishing compound, polished it, glazed it, waxed it and sealed it. Looks superb now, and the paintworkit feels like slippery glass.

I have Autoglyms lifeshine on my Black BMW
When I compare that to how good my Impreza now looks following full preperation and detail by www.cleanandshiny.co.uk I really wished I had'nt forked out the money on the lifeshine.....my BMW still has swirls whereas my Impreza (for a LOT less money) is now immaculate

Also Ed may find someone who is able to help for less money or advise if the work being done is worthwhile.
Its worth posting in the help section of the forum.
I found someone on there to deswirl my black Cupra and results are fantastic.
Cheers

Deswirling isn't hard once you got to grips with the correct technique of washing, drying and applying/removing polish and wax.
I onwed a metallic/pearl blue car for 4 years, had to take care of a metallic black car for 8 years and also had to do my mums metallic/pearl blue car. So I've had plenty of practice of getting it right.
Consequently I never want to see a metallic blue or black car ever again - too much hard work
