well i have the spare suspension from the new car. looks the same as far as i can see. anyone know if there is a diffrence between 1.8AWD and 2.0AWD suspension struts ?
but i will wait until i can drive the car out and take a good look at it in day light.
i also have a 2 post ramp i will put it on to have a more detailed inspection of the finished thing.

Hey David,
Always nice to talk to other hams M1BRR used to be 2E1EWG and I did get my M5 but I cant even remember the call don’t think I ever used it.
But same, since I have been using the net I haven’t renewed the license. I have a 50 ft ex MOD pneumatic mast with huge antenna array sitting in the back garden begging for a few hundred watts to be put through it.
I have planned for a few radios in the car though. Intend to run a little GPS system so my pc can log the location of the car via VHF packet relays
And maybe even a little Crestron system in there

So now you have it all back together, how do you go about registering the new car. Do you re register it with the details of the old one. Or is it a modded GL.

update
Sorry its been a while. Been a little busy working.
Here are a few more pics of the project. This is the first time I started once I had flushed the engine. Came up to temp fine, burning off all the oil I had spilt during the rebuild …. My god did I spill that much ???
After a dose of engine gunk and a good rinse it finally stopped smoking.
Time to bleed the clutch and breaks. Armed with a milk bottle and a bit of pipe I was amazed at how much fluid it takes to fill the system.
All systems are go
I was ready to drive it out of the barn for the first time !
Very slowly it moved out. Apart from a slightly bent steering rod it seems rather good. I haven’t taken it over about 5 MPH yet. Next weekend its going on the ramp for the steering rod and a final check over and check on the nuts and bolts.
Is there a torque setting for all the nuts and bolts ? I have tightened everything up but I would feel happier if I had a setting to work to.
Still haven’t managed to find a bumper at the local scrappy. Ebay will be my next stop. Unless anyone has a spare they would like to part with ? either for money or in exchange for any spare parts I have left over from the rebuild.
That’s it for now folks..
Pete

wrxtankie ...
haven’t done any of the paper work for it yet .. will start talking to the DVLA about it once i have finished. but plan to take it to a Subaru registered garage for a clean (ish) bill of health then request the log book be changed to reflect the changes.
What have other people done when it comes to this part of the project ? im sure im not the first to make a turbo out of a 1.8 ?????
Advice really appreciated

Will be looking for a two door also but not right now. This was too good an offer to pass up. Well I havent seen it in the flesh yet. I think it'd look ok with some gun metal 17"s It reminds me of the WR1 paint is it similar?
I'm going for white for the colour though I think.
