What Cantona? HaHa! He may be a legend to ManYu fans, but to the rest of Football, he's just a leg end... A bully and a thug who utters pseudo intellectual claptrap, whilst thinking he's really smart. Jean Paul Sartre he is not!
The so called Kung Fu kick in the crowd's just the tip of the iceburg with ol' Eric. He's been at so many Clubs and been fined, banned and kicked out, but it was always someone else's fault:
Auxerre - fined for punching his team's goalkeeper and suspended for three months for a dangerous tackle. His first Club too!
Marseille - banned for throwing his shirt at his coach during a charity match. Not much of that shown by Eric!
Montpellier - suspended for two matches for hitting a teammate in the face with his boot. Still, he's done worse to opposition players (and fans...).
French National side - compared the coach, Henri Michel, to excrement. One year suspension.
Nimes - threw the ball at the referee, stomped off without permission and attacked an opponent in the changing rooms.
A French FA disciplinary hearing - called each member an idiot and earned himself and extra three month ban!Who's the real idiot Eric?
ManYu - booked, sent off, fined, suspended and banned for:
Spitting
Stamping on heads
Kicking
Fighting
Arguing
Oh, and he shagged his team mate's Wife at Leeds...
Eric Cantona
As I said, Jean Paul Sartre he is not... More like Jean Paul Sardine.
Nick Hancock
Well said Nick! Goodbye and good ridance to the thug.

Seriously though, that's a very one sided argument and clearly not an objective one. I'm a MU fan, here's a more objectivie opinion for you to learn from
Yes Eric Cantona had a lot of personality faults but he was still a great player and a MU legend.
Alan Shearer is a NU legend and with good reason, scored lots of goals and showed great loyalty because let's be honest it's not like he was given much opportunity to win trophies. Shearer was however also a bit of a thug at times. it's a bit silly to slag Cantona off to that extent then praise Shearer.
I just hope he can be on the pitch to score the winning goal on the last day of this season Sadly it looks like it's not to be.

Compare the disciplinary records of both players. Al's doesn't come close to the disraceful one of Cantona. Few others do either.

2 Championship Medals along with his 1 Cup Medal
If you really think Alan Shearer envies Steve Bull's career; well I don't know what to say... This thread's become very, very scary...

I can honestly say that Alan Shearer is a genious and one of the dirtest players that i have ever seen ! A few years ago at Elland Road Shearer and Carlton Palmer went up for the same ball just after the half way line. Shearer went down like a sack of spuds ! Play carried on into the Newcastle penalty area and the the linesman flagged that shearer was still on the floor, the ref blew up. Marched all the way back to Shearer that was poleaxed on the floor ! And Shearer stood up said a few choice words to the ref who calmly walked bach to Carlton Palmer who was still waiting in the penalty area and sent him off for a a second bookable offence !

To be fair Cantona shouldn't really have been mentioned on here.

i never said Shearer envied Bull can you not read?
Bull was a fairly prolific goalscorer in a pretty poor team, playing in lower divisions. We've only played 4 league games against each other since the English Premier League was formed - because we're in it (13 from 14) and you've only managed 1 from 14 Seasons. Whilst Bull was rattling in goals against the likes of Bury, Port Vale, Wrexham, Bournemouth and Hartlepool Utd, Shearer was scoring against Arsenal, Sporting Lisbon, Manchester Utd, Chelsea and Inter Milan. Oh and The Netherlands in the European Championships.
I've always quite admired Bull and he was a thorn in our side a few times many years ago, but please don't make him out to be what he isn't. He may be your hero and I respect that, but he's not going to be remembered with the same regard as Alan Shearer.

Pontificating
One fact is missing Shearer won F U C K A L L with the Toon, apart from the hearts of the St James' faithful. I love they way you pick up his one EPL medal and wave it around as if it were World Footballer of the year, your loyalty to the man is without question but also very blinkered, as is your opinion on all things Newcastle, footballing life clearly doesn't exist outside of the Toon....
