Geoff races Kenny S car this weekend. Will be interesting to see.
Rob's out in the RA by Zen. Will be interesting to see...
The re-vamped Audi V8 twin turbo is also out.............

Car will look great John.
Still out in the old car Graham, though I had a reasonable attempt at destroying it at Doune. Side screens are still glass, I see no great benefit from changing them. They are quite small and the glass is thin, I think the saving/cost ratio does not stack up.

How did Geoff get on ?

More updates.

A wee pick of the bottom corner of a bedroom.

New Bias box

These wee suckers fit in there

Your kid's play room looks interesting. If I did that with my wife about I'd be in even more trouble than usual.

Well, that's the end of and era, the old Girl did her last event today at East Fortune (What a fantastic track by the way, KH cant hold a candle to it in my opinion). Knocked in two Maximum scores so she is going on a high too.

She's sitting in the drive waiting to be butchered for the bits I need for the new one. The cars spirit will live on though as most of it is being grafted int o my 5 dr, fast tow car.... nice.

Made a start today, felt a bit slow going as I spent most of the day painting stuff. Painted the whole of the underside of the car and all of the wee brackets and bits and bobs that will be going back under there. Made a steering joint to convert from Classic column to Newage STi Quick rack. Fitted the front subframe and Rack inc. some Gucci bits courtesy of Cusco Kid.

Here are a few pics of the results:

Front Sub Frame and STi Quick Rack

My Undercarrage, from the rear.... Oooh Errr !!

Whiteline Anti Roll Bar and Extended Track Rod End

More Gucci bits still to fit

John

What was involved in the steering joint. I also purchased a new age sti rack and would be interested to hear how you converted it.

The trailing arms look interesting are they adjustable or just rose jointed?

Mark, you need the UJ from your car and a new age sti. Then you need to take the UK from your column end and fix it to the uj and shaft from the Sti's rack end...it needs careful lining up and welding

Trailing arms are adjustable, don't let Tim fool you, it's about 1/2 hours work

Three quick questions;

1. If you are using a Hydraulic handbrake how do you get it not to operate the fronts as well as the backs? one way valve.
2. What make are the trailing arms, I've only seen OBX ones in the States
3. Where did you get the whiteline track rod ends, Demon Tweaks?

My understanding of the situation is thus : the master cylinder for a hydraulic handbrake is situated in the line to the rear brakes. Pulling on the handbrake operates the pushrod to the master cylinder, as you move this pushrod the piston in the MC immediately closes off the "inlet port" (in a hydraulic handbrake installation this is the incoming brakeline as opposed to the usual plastic reservoir) Thus no pressure is transferred "the wrong way" down the incoming brake line.

1. Front and rear braking systems are separate hydraulic systems.
2. D2

Whats the story with these racks then ?

I have heard mention that steering lock is reduced if you fit a new age rack to a classic ? Just wondering if they only 'appear' quicker due to less rack travel ?

mm's per turn would be a better indicator if its something you could check at some point John ? I know you have plenty free time

Andy.

There certainly appear to be what look like lock limiters on the Sti rack so you may well be right.

Engine finally in the car, Chy at Pennine Subaru is building a new, all singing and dancing short motor for the car, but we are going to run with the old one initially, hence I've not gone to a great deal of effort to clean it up.

KennyS was up helping again tonight so a fair bit was acheived. Pedal box is in. Brake lines are all in save a couple of missing copper washers. Brakes are a temporary install as the Apexi is going back in for it's first event, so no need to delete the servo for the Simtek yet (though this also won't be necessary short term) Intercooler hanging on bumper, though still to be plumbed. Kill switch pull cable in there, though only 'cause I was mucking about near the end of play Wiper motor and linkage also installed.
