What was the coolest car your dad had?
#31
A MK2 Mexico 'Pinto'.... in yellow - was there any other colour
The pinto bit was very very important, cos that made it faster than my mates Dad's RS1600...... apparently.
He bought it new (only new car he bought) but it leaked like a sieve, so he took all the carpets out and removed the floor bungs to let the water out. This gave it a more authentic rally car feel, and obviously made it go faster

My Dad had a cash business when I was younger, so often had cool cars. Once he went to buy my Mum a new spare for her Mini Clubman and came back with a Triumph Stag for her.
He also had a Triumph Spitfire, an MG B GT, a Merc 380 SL and a couple of other smooth motors when I was very young.....
The top dog was his Austin Healey though, which blew up!
I've seen Healeys the same (although in mint, mint condition) in Coys of South Ken for near on seventy grand recently!
I remember my Mum getting her Metro on a C plate on day of new registrations and it had a digital clock! I actually said to myself what will cars be like in the future?????

My Dad had one of those V12 Jags with the 2 fuel tanks for a bit.
It was a heap and he only had it for a couple of months due to its immense running costs.
He got a Capri 3L sport after.

Dads most recent and best car, was a 2.0L carlton CD
Before that an astra
Then before that some orange thing, that used to make the other kids laugh at my school
Step father had a TR7 in his youth, but Im not sure how cool that was in its time.

Good thread...seems that I'm not alone in having a dad who had loads of crap cars.
The coolest one he had was a Cavalier SRi with a sunroof and a radio CASSETTE in which I could play my fav chunes and pose around thinking I was cool. Before that were various Datsun Bluebird thingies

Cool - maybe not
But a rare photo of a VW Variant actually moving
ps - My dad concentrated on being cool - not having cool things - That's what he always told us anyway

My dad went Jag tastic in the 80's progressing from XJ6 to Sovereign, to Daimler before moving onto to LS Lexi - currently on his 4th...
My favourite cars he had though (oddly enough) were an X Reg Cortina 2.0 Ghia in burgundy, his 3.0 Mitsubishi Sigma and his Volvo 960 24v which at the time felt it pulled like a freight train
His best friend (and so my "uncle") had a variety of sports cars in his time and as a kid my two favourites he took me out in were his Porsche 928 S2 and his BMW 635 CSI which were phenomenal
I also loved my mums VW Scirocco Scala... Except for the white seats not so good with a family
Eeeeee they were the days!

Ford Zodiac with 3 front seats......
Cortina 1600E
Cortina 2000E
Lots of Granada 3 litre and 2.8 Injections
XR4X4 Andy Rouse turbo conversion
RS500 in Black - Very quick top end.......
Both Sierra's were stolen, probably by contacts of the Ford garage from which they were bought.
I thought they were cool at the time and definately more cool than his current BMW 528i!!!!!

My dad had a Jag XJS V12 and a Range Rover. He has a couple of vintage Rolls Royce, but I guess they're not cool. My mum always had some cool cars though. An early Merc SL, a Datsun 280zx and a Ford Mustang 5.0 GT...now she has an orange mini copper cabriolet

I think the car that most impressed me was the vauxhall omega v6 elite. He picked this up when it first came out.
I still remember sitting staring at the digital dashboard, I half expected the car to talk to us!
He now drives an S type Jag, not my cup of tea but its a little bit of comfort and luxury for him

I definitely get my love of cars from my Dad. He's currently driving an STi Type UK which is his third Scoob.
But you wanted to know about the cool cars didn't you? He posts on here so I'll get him to do his list as it's easier

My Dad had a mini pickup when I was born, pram in back....lol
What I can rememeber, so I was probably about 6-7 when he had the first:
Renault 16 (P)
Renault 18 (V)
Austin Ambassador (Y)
Rover 213 (B)
Ford Sierra 2.0 LX (D)
Ford Escort 1.4 Ghia (G)
Vauxhall Cavaliar Diplomat (K)
Landrover Series 2A (A)
Vauxhall Frontera 2.0 Sport SWB (M)
Peugeot 406 Estate (N?)
Hyandai Coupe (R)
Renault Scenic (51)
Sadly that is it. His dream was to restore an old TR, but never got to do it.

I remember he had a lot of Renaults when I was a kid (5, Fuego, 16 etc). His coolest was probably his Dolphin Grey BMW 325i Sport - I loved that car!
He now has a brand new Audi A3 3.2 which is nice too, but the BMW tops them all!

Think my Dad's coolest was a BMW Z3 at the time James Bond was using one.
Now has a Saab convertible and Leon Cupra R as well as a cluster of Moto Guzzis, I preferred his Triumph Daytona myself.
