There you go the first openly deluded Furby 'rocket ship' owner on the thread.
That's what the continued comments are in aid of fabio.
All we need now are some of the more optimistic VRS owners from Briskoda to come over and tell us about how they saw off all manner of exotic stuff- all while getting 50+mpg.

It is very true to say though the Fabia vRS is now in the hands of a lot of 'young' drivers.Have to say though, even they seem very sensible and not boy racer 'I beat this' kind of people.Skoda seems to attract people who are perhaps a bit less 'lairy'

I can't be bothered to comment on this anymore.......I know what I bought, I know what its capable of, I know what it isn't, I know it still makes me smile driving it in modded form, I know its as cheap as chips.....if you don't like it/get it/hate it well there you go....horses for courses...
TBH Rabid I don't disagree with alot of your comments I just feel some of your assumptions about what the average vRS driver thinks about their car is wrong, there may be a very small minority and the emphasis is on the word small
Enjoy what ever you drive......

I think you must've recently been beaten by a Furby and came to the conclusion that you have bought an overpriced slow ugly car that you forgot to tick "Indicators" option on the order form on and now wished you had your skoda back

I'm sure there are furby owners who think they can take on the world, but to be honest every marque has owners who think that nothing else should be on the same road as them. From reading some threads, some scooby owners can be the worst of all.

Explain how your Fabia with 130bhp is faster than my E90 320D with 160ish and a much higher top speed. My car's leased by the way, just like the VRS was before it.
Bear in mind I've got extensive experience of REVO'd Furby and out accelerated a VRS only recently- with some ned at the wheel. Question is, was it you? It would explain your attitude problem I suppose.

Well I'ved owned three diesel Skoda's, my wife still has her Fabia 1.9TDi PD100.
All excellent cars and excellent value. My workmate who I car share with sometimes bought a Fabia vRS after he had a drive of my wifes Fabia.
Performance then, yes the Fabia has loads of midrange grunt and at the right speeds in the right gear they can certainly catch some fast cars sleeping.
But lets not get carried away, look at the performance figures even the in gear ones and the Fabia vRS is about even to a Mondeo TDCi 130 6 Speed. The Mondeo is 190kg heavier but has more torque and is more aerodynamic.
Remapped things get a lot more complicated my workmates has the Revo but he's been running the standard map over the winter as he's found he can make better progress in bad weather, the Revo in the wet just keeps bringing the ASR in.
In the dry, in a straight line I would expect a Revo'd 180bhp 300lbft Fabia to outperform a 160bhp 250lbft 320D.
Cheers

Remember though you can remap 320d's as well as Fabia's. I'd expect a an E46 150bhp 320D with remap to outperform a Fabia VRS with remap. The Fabia's main problem is that it can't put it's power down compared to the RWD BMW.

Either way remapped Fabia V remapped 320D ends with the fabia losing.

But back to my post unless BMW have a different type of horsepower or a different weight of kilogram then a 180bhp Fabia is going to be quicker than a 160bhp 3 series were traction is available for the FWD car and the road is straight so handling isn't an issue.

Yep I agree as long as the 320D in question is not a 115hp or 130hp version.

You're also wrong in your other assumption- a 160bhp E90 3 series still goes faster in a straight line than a 180bhp Fabia.
Also a remapped E46 320D V Fabia VRS remap has the same result, the Fabia is slower.

Isn't it funny how, if someone dares to criticise a 'car of the moment' - like the VRS - they get rounded on.
Rabid is right. As a decent, economical & brisk hatchback the VRS is pretty much without peer.
As a hothatch it's crap.

He's not realised the irony yet. He feels the need to point out all the little furby owners who think they have giant killers and yet he feels the need to jump on after every post and defend his low end 3 series.
Pot calling kettle black?

I got my Fabia vRS as I needed an economical car that would be quicker than my nitroused Polo GTi.
I had it remapped and chucked a panel filter in the day after I bought it and quickly uprated the brakes to TT spec items.
Last year I got H&R Coilovers, stuck on a set of Design 90's wrapped in T1-R's, upgraded the remap to Custom Code Phase Two and got front and rear upper strut braces.
I am really happy with the way the car performs. Handling, braking and acceleration are all much better than I had expected before I bought the car, and yes, I've spent maybe 3k on all the mods I've done to it, but that still only makes it a £15k car. It has 190bhp, 280lbft, 0-60 in just under 7s, 57mpg on a run down the motorway, 38mpg when nailing it's ***** off... etc etc etc.
I test drove a 330 CI Sport last month as I fancied a change, but I was uninspired by the performance and terrible fuel consumption (but loved the looks and the quality of the interior), so I decided to keep the Fabia for a bit longer. To be fair, I can't think of anything I'd rather have at the moment.
I don't think it's a giant killer, but it's kept up with some far more exotic and expensive metal, and it keeps impressing me, so I'm happy.
Just my 2p
