...Unless, of course, all the interior mass of the Earth were squeezed in to a black hole. That way, you could get a hollow Earth, and still have gravity at the surface.

Not entirely true, distribution would have an effect (like mountains do now). Currently the majority of the mass of the Earth is in the iron core at its centre, so gravity generally pulls you downwards perpendicular to the surface wherever you stand. In the scenario of a thin crust with vastly increased density, directly below you would be two thin sections, while around you at a tangent to the surface would be a much greater thickness exerting a vastly larger gravitational pull. Thus you would be pulled in all sideways directions simultaneously. Whether you would get torn apart depends on the thickness of the crust
