More money I know but piece of mind... Or maybe even a heavy duty battery... ie the ones used in big ICE installs. Might cost a few hundred quid, but would sort your problem out if you don't use the car every couple of days...?
Looking forward to having the gearbox done? Be nice to be able to put all the power down lol...
The 306 HDi is still going strong... tempted to sell it on this year and get my money back...

Getting on with the Orion now, although I really miss the Scooby...
Any pics from the detail?
All the best with it mate...

Haven't sorted the a/c yet.. not really bothering me enough.

Battery is the problem. My mate who you met supplys and fits Toad gear so may well get one of them with all the extras, see if that cures it.. Otherwise, I may well have to get the car re-wired... Haven't decided on route yet.

I'm moving house as well, so will have a huge driveway and a double garage. In the interim, I'm going to use a trickle charger to keep her fresh.

Really looking forward to the 'box and clutch going in. About 40 days to go all going well...

Any pics on the Orry?

Will get some more pics next time I do the next wash/wax - probably in a fortnight..

I think the car re-wire is a tad over the top mate... lol That auto electrician you had down mentioned the alarm being the drain didn't he?
Surely its developed a problem there?
Look forward to the pics and the gearbox updates...

To all other Scoobynetters... I introduce you to my next project lol... Although I will try to keep this thread open for Rossi P's progress on the Type R lol, We'll let this one slip as its still my thread originally... ( Keep this one going Rossi, its got the base to be a belter!!! )

Orion pics... Errrrrrrrrrrrm, well... if you wanna see them lol...
Its not much now... but will be shortly...

How it started off... bought for £200 quid... with no tax or test on... I had a Ghia for my project but wasn't as happy with the shell, so that was broke up for spares and scrapped off...
This shell came up and its mint for its age and is a great base for my project to start off with....

After a quick clean...

1400 cc.... Hmmmmmmmmmmmm... I wanna cry...

At this point I was still the owner of the Type R... so I was just collecting bits and bobs for the Orion while I was still living at home...
I was having too much fun with the Type R, so I didn't really get much done on the Orion tbh...
Did manage to cut the springs for a laugh, just so it looked better really sat up the drive SORN'ed...

Newly purchased 88 spec Recaros... re-trimmed the centres to match the rest of the trim, although the blue dash and door cards will be binned off...

What 25 year olds have to give up these days to get on the bloody property market... Have I said I miss the Type R...??? LOL, I will have another one some day... Will find a mint Ver 6... and build it even better lol... Hope the misses doesn't read this...

Then after the sale of the car to Rossi, I finally moved into my house with the misses, so, a pic of the Orion in its new home... Oh yeah, I gotta garage!!!

Then, it went for a MOT... will explain my reason for this another day... but it passed on new suspension ( 60mm drop )... come back home and then I started stripping it to a bare shell...

Almost looked presentable on its MOT day...

2 litre Mondeo donor car... bought for £125 quid... gutted and weighed back in for £100 quid...
But I now have a 2 litre zetec lump that needs turbo'ing... lol

After months and months, its pretty much bare... I have lots of parts to go on it... and have just picked up some 17inch Borbet C's... Will look very nice once refurbed in a different colour...

The car is soon going for a full respray inside and out... In Moonstone blue, will have fitted to it a 90's spec front bumper, turbo bonnet, saff cossie boot spoiler, and maybe S2 arches and side skirts...

Under the bonnet will be a 2 litre zetec, with forge pistons to start with. A pair of vernier pulleys, big fmic etc...
I still need to get hold of a cheap T28 turbo, the Orion will be running the same management as the Scooby did... I also have Andy again as my helper...

Although not in the same league as the Scooby, the aim is 250-300bhp... It will be a fun car to drive...
I like my cars looking mint, nothing ott, just nice...
I've always had Orions before my Scooby days, and with now having the house don't have as much ££££ to throw away... I will update my progress on here if anyone is interesed...
But the Scooby owed me loads of money ££££££. It just made sence to sell it, put abit into the house, which has done alot of jobs... and is looking really nice...
The left overs which aint £££££, have a project car...
With abit of luck I may even be able to make a few shows in the Orion this year...

Nice work with the Orry Chris!

Poss start another thread on SN for that.. or you leaving it for a Ford site?

I'm getting quite excited about the transmission being done... getting itchy feet.. being told bonus this Thursday so all depends on that!

Regardless of bonus, the catch tank and another service are booked for end February. Will make sure I get pics up of that....

Next update will be in a week or so.. with some hopefully good news!

Right, I suppose it is time for me to update this thread...

The gearbox has now been done!

We have a PPG gearset, straight cut 1/2, helical cut 3/4 and a P1 5th gear to increase top speed and bring down motorway revs... Also fitted is an Exedy twin place 'Hyper' clutch, inc a lightweight chormoly flywheel.

Just bedding in the clutch at the moment, and took a little while to get used to the new clutch, but is a good setup! I love the whine of the straight cut gears and the ticking of the twin plated clutch... Gives it a real focus..

Just got in from another clean/wax... I have managed to use a pot of the Blackfire wax in 5 months... (bascially a wax coast every 3-4 weeks), next up is the new BF Midnight Sun wax...!

Also installed was a RCM oil catch tank. This will be ran back to the sump with a steel braided hose but we're just waiting on a plug to arrive.

Also had another oil change (done less than 1500 since last one), plug and filter. Coolant and lower temp thermostat, kevlar cambelt, brake fluid, diff and gearbox fluids all done. Wheel cambers/tracking all set up and a Phormula knock sensor fitted.

Work has all been carried out by Zak and Luke at Mocom - top fellas and would recommend to everyone! BIG THANKS FELLAS!

Car hasn't been remapped and not giving it 'the beans' yet as want to bed the clutch in but it just wants to launch itself. Zak has now got the software to map the Adaptronics ecu so he will be doing that in time....

Next on the plans is the have the headers wrapped, fit the braided hose to the catch tank/sump, re map, fit the knock sensor into a flush setting on the dash somewhere and anything else I can think of .

In the slightly longer term, I'll be looking at getting some more engine monitoring gear in.. defi gauges etc... so much money invested in it, I want to keep an eye on it (hence getting the knock sensor this time around)!

Will try to get some more pics up soon as I know everybody loves pics!

About time mate... happy with it then? OMG, why the change in cambelt, lol, bet its only done 5k lol...
Reason I didn't wrap the headers was mainly, there prone for cracking...? Also, the wrap stinks when damp...
It'll only want the Map tweaking if you want the boost up'ing... You not fancy the journey back up here?

Anyway, glad you got it sorted, I bet your all spent up for now aint you?

Chuffed .

I want to insulate the induction kit from as much heat as possible. Wrapping the headers was the first step... Was then going to modify an aluminium sheet to 'fence' it off. Also was planning to change the filter to a longer, thinner cone so I have more surface area and can then get rid of the MAF part seeing as it isn't being used. All fine tuning now!

Not completely skint, but am just moving flats in with the girlfriend. Took ages to find a place where I had a private drive and garage and would be happy keeping the car there... Now need to buy some furniture etc...

Will see about coming up to Crewe matey. I just haven't got the time these days with so much going on.. You'll have to come done London for a weekend mate.. go out on the pi$$

I thought I'd post up a link for the Phormula knock device... much nicer piece of kit than a knocklink imho.

More work being done next Friday .

Couple of pics to tide you over as I know we all love pictures!

Another update....

Took the car back to Mocom on Friday. I've had the headers and all the intercooler pipes wrapped. The turbo is now snug in a turbo blanket and some minor modifications done to allow the fmic pipes to clear with a bit more space to avoid any rubbing.

Also had a re-map done.... Didn't increase boost but it feels 'jjjjjeeeeeeeeesssssuuuuuuuuuusssssssssssss' fast! Big thanks to Zak and Luke at Mocom again for their work.

Few other bits still to do until I'm completely satisfied and can turn attention to the suspension.

Also, have had some progress to sorting out the drain on the battery. Have identified the action to what causes it, just need to find the circuit/relay responsible.

Basically, if you disconnect then reconnect the battery, there is no drain (other than the standard from the alarm system etc). But, when you turn the ignition on then off there is a drain and the only way to reset this is to disconnect the battery again. Something in the ignition is sticking and won't turn off unless you disconnect the battery and reconnect again.

With a busy weekend, still managed to fit in another wash 'n' wax so looking spotless!
