I am so pleased to hear that news from you both.
Hell Sara-if she can make it to the plane, I should go on that holiday. I reckon it will be very important to her to go as well.

we found out today that mum has a tumour on the left and the right side of the brain, they are very deep. this was only a CAT scan and we were warned that the cancer may well have spread to other parts of the body as well as more tumours on the brain that will show on a PET scan. they want to start radiotherapy next week. mum asked if she could take her holiday first but was advised not to. the tumours are very agressive and affect her motor functions in the brain. as she has been advised not to fly, if anything happened to her she might not qualify for treatment through the E111 if she got ill. mum is devastated as all she has to look forward to is treatment that will make her unwell. we were also told that Radiotherapy to the brain causes the brain to prematurely age. she will lose her hair from this and will be unwell for 4-6 weeks after. mum has been given around 3 months to live
i know that she could outlive the expectations if she is lucky but mum says she cant do this anymore. i am so worn out, one minute we are up then we are down. if i am feeling so drained i can only guess what mum is going through. i dont ever remember my mum crying when i was growing up but its all she does now. i dont know what i can do for her.i feel so helpless. i fcukin hate this

Oh, Sara, sweetheart. I too am so sorry to hear your news. My heart is breaking for both you and your mum.
I can imagine how helpless you must feel, but you're not... from what I read on here you have been an absolute star - and your mum is an incredible lady. What you can do for her - as you have been, is to continue to be strong and to be there for her

i feel crap telling you all the horrible **** but its better than keeping it in i think.
thanks for understanding.
this is the first time we have had cancer in the family that i am aware of and it something i hope i never have to deal with again. my mum is already telling us what she wants to happen at her funeral and stuff. all i want to do is put it out of my mind until i have to deal with it, but its one of the few things mum has some control over so i have to go along with it..
you know me, i will muddle through with gritty determination, i have my health and for that i must be grateful

Desperately sorry to hear that Sara, I just hope they can give your mum some kind of improvement with the treatment. We are all with you on here, I wish you all the strength that you need to cope.

unbelievably my mum has been given the go ahead to fly to spain on Saturday
i am not happy with this at all. i dont know if the cabin pressure will cause any problems.this is the only holiday i have dreaded going on. anyway mum is feeling much better now so hopefully mum can enjoy it as well. i hope leslie and dynamix's mum are doing ok

Sorry to hear about what was found from the scans on your mum Sara but it's good in a way that she is able to fly on Saturday, I'll keep my fingers crossed and hope it all goes well for this saturday (it is this sat you mean?) and that you and your mum can enjoy your holiday the best you can.

alls well on the square front
had a lovely holiday. mum was amazing for the first half of the week but she was a bit unwell for the rest of it. we did all the normal stuff but at a slower pace.
mum has had a few problems with her eye sight and balance but we know that is because the brain tumurs are growing fast. mum has had her first radiotherapy session on her head this morning and she will have it for the rest of the week. i hope no one else has had any problems while i have been away
