I went for my checkup yesterday afternoon. They have found another lump under my arm. This is where I have already had 3 lymph nodes removed, one had melanoma in it.
With this lump been where it is they have to do further tests. They found a lump back in January of which they took a biopsy and it came back clear. So, they have to investigate it. The test will either be a CT scan or biopsy which isn`t pleasant as I`ve posted before.
The specialist also mentioned the removal of all the nodes from that area, this has been mentioned several times.
So the tests may come back clear, but they said that there is no conclusive evidence that the entire removal will stop the cancer from growing back. Clinical trials have not yet proved this.
So, after these tests, I shall be in a dilemma of whether to have the surgery to do this or go through the ordeal of them finding a lump and going through these tests every few months. A tough decision. I shall let you know how I get on.

Regards

Ant

I am sorry you have all this to go through again Anthony, I very much hope of course that it is clear. Maybe it might be best to follow the specialist's advice and remove the nodes. One operation to remove the problem sounds better than having to go through the tests etc all the time and worrying about it of course.

I'll be thinking of you too of course.

Sorry to hear that Steph

I have spoken to my consultant today and she has requested that I have a biopsy (needle test).
She did say that out of the lypmh nodes that were removed, only one had a slight trace in it. So they have to investigate.
Also was mentioned about me having the entire area of nodes removed.
So the appointment will be arranged very shortly for the test & then a review. I shall have to prepare some questions as well, I know that it will incur a 7-10 day stay in hospital. Another lengthy scar, time off work etc.

I don`t know what it will bring, but I will keep you all updated.
Whatever happens, I always carry a smile on my face.
Thinking of you all,

Ant

I shall win this battle. Nothing beats me

With the style of tumour I had, when it is removed the associated lymph nodes are removed with it. That is no guarantee of course as we all know but it helps.

I hope that they take the best action for you Anthony and yes I can tell that you are a battler like a close friend of mine and that you won't let it beat you.

My very best wishes

Les

How is everybody?
Today is the day of the biopsy. Not a pleasant experience in the least. But I shall carry a smile on my face none the least. I suppose we all go through these feelings in one way or another.
Sometimes I think, "Why Me?" But after seeing many others, I have been very lucky.
Anyway, I shall keep you all updated with my results etc. When those needles go in, one of the thoughts I will have is how lucky I have been. Circumstances could have been alot worse.
Take care each & all.

Sorry to hear this Lesley, give them both a big hug from me. Hearing this, shows just how lucky I have been.
Yesterday I asked when I would get my results, I have to ring up next week. So fingers crossed.
The radioligist, said that there was no change in the lymph nodes from my last scan. The biopsy was optional, which I had anyway. As I am sure my oncologist would have requested at a later date I presume. So it saved me a commute to Leeds. At least it was over & done with yesterday.
Didn`t even have a local, straight in. Naymind I had to keep my composure as there was 4 female doctors in the room
Take Care

Thanks for the good wishes Lesley, I have a provisional date for 3 Oct. Not looking forward to the test but it will be a relief to get it over hopefully with a good result.

My best wishes for your Mum and your nephew, he is having a rough time of it just now.

Amazing seeing 700 runners yesterday all with their own reasons for running 10k for Cancer Research.
Many thousands were raised and most had a "running for..." message on their backs with some pretty heart wrenching messages.

The start of the race was pretty emotional - I ran for my Aunt who died of lung cancer two years ago. Just over £200 raised for the best cause there is (IMO).
