its not to bad really, i earn about 24/25k without overtime a year (you can earn more if you can be arsed)
when i left school there were no apprenticeships anywhere so i did it off my own back and went to night school for 3 years
one thing i will warn you of tho is.......dont think you are a joiner after finishing college it is the only job i know of that you do not take a single thing that you were taught in college out into the real world it means you really have to get experience being on site working with joiners before you could even think about going alone onto site
if you are serious and you were willing i would be tempted to go and labour on a self employed joiner on the w/ends for at least a couple of months (you said you wanted a p/t job) just to get the hang of things

Think plumbing is looking like an option as have done a bit before and seem quite confident with it.

oh yeah i forgot a couple of points........
1, you have to work in the cold

3, you will constantly have dirty work clothes

1, not a problem, I use thermogenics so always wear t shirts outside
2, currently do well sort - Office is a bit dirty
3, alrite I fart a lot so clothes get smelly anyway
