question.why is it when you drive onto a large car park say a retail park or superstore and you drive to the far end into no mans land were nobody parks and you park your pride and joy safe in the knowledge there is plenty of space around it,then when you return some p**** in a transit van has parked right next to you even though there are 15 othe bays either side of you

well normally I would say the same as pete but I read somewhere that people think there car is less of a target when its grouped together with others (like sheep) theirs less chace of it getting singled out (no wonder if its a bloody clapped out metro who the hell going to damage that and why the hell do you have to park so friggin close I need to enter the car through my boot

sorry rant over now bloody low life - I would see my hand bleed holding my door rather then dinging someone even in the works van!!

Where abouts in Scotland are you going? I know a couple of fantastic roads to Edinburgh if you're heading that way.

I got a trolley shaped ding in the driver's door of my Focus on the first day I bought it. My mum had asked me to get some milk on the way home from collecting it. I was in the shop for about 3 minutes and when I got back, there it was - with the trolley about three spaces down next to the dry patch on the ground where a Range Rover had been parked. Bar Stewards!!

If you look along the flanks of my Scoob, it's like it's been parked on a golf driving range. It's like Dent Street in Dingville. Need to get it sorted at some point but it's another thing on a growing list of things I need (want) to do. ARB's and suspension need replacing first as they are getting a tad old and slack.

LOL. Surely by parking next to another car, you are giving the little sh*t somewhere to hide whilst he hammers a screwdriver into the doorlock? (usually taking plenty of paint with him)

Although, I can see the theory of halving the chance that they'll pick yours.

I'm the same at work, but sometimes I don't know why I bother. New scratches appear all the time. I think it's caused by people getting their keys out of their pocket and walking between the cars with them by their side - only the slightest of glances with the key but it still leaves a mark.

Either that, or similar to what jaydut had with the jeans!

Hi All

one thing that causes that is if your car is dirty and someone slides past it - it causes fine lines in your clear coat - you will notice them in the sun - can be easly taken out though - good thing to have is my alarm as when someone gets close it beeps and scares the sh*t out of people - best one was when I went to the doctors some old dear walked past - "BEEEEEPPPPPP" she nearly had a heart attack

on the sat nav its sending me down the M6 then that becomes the A74 - by the looks of it I could detour onto the B722 (waterbeck) then join the B7068 (bankshill) - looks like some twisty stuff - I just need a good excuse to go that way

No, there isn't a motorway. You're correct. There are some good roads that way though. Lockerbie is a bit further North and the M74 nearly goes through the middle of the town.

http://www.multimap.com/map/browse.c...1&scale=500000

And Lockerbie is only 15 miles away from my alltime favourite road - the A701 from Moffat to Penicuik.

http://www.multimap.com/map/browse.c...p.x=283&up.y=8

http://www.multimap.com/map/browse.c...p.x=297&up.y=8

I was practically brought up on this road as my dad used to be a sales rep for a mill near stirling. He would drop us off with my relatives in Edinburgh and travel on to stirling. For a while we were doing this on a weekly basis, so I know the road like the back of my hand, despite the fact I've only ever driven it 6 times (3 each way) myself.

It's 40 miles of pure driving pleasure - I promise you!

better idea, can you electrify the chasis of the car so if somebody was to brush against it they would then have to pick their teeth up off the floor

Dont people in asia do somthing like that or maybe rent a sniper - it costs a extra £2.00 ontop of the parking fee but at least you know your car would be protected - only downside would be cleaning the splattered brains off your car
