Ouch!! My other half has just seen the specialist, been told she needs all 4 out. Has also been told she'll be waiting at least 6 months on the NHS. Currently getting the ball rolling with BUPA to see if we can expedite matters. I'll keep you posted.

In the meantime, get an emergency appointment with your dentist!!

I had all 4 out in 1 go (dads xmas pressie to me, he wanted to take 2 out, I refused so had all 4 out under general). Waited 4 months i think, wasn't that long a wait from referal to the op.

Anyway the only side effect I had was that 1 of the teeth on its way out disturbed the siatic nerve so lost fine feeling in the right hand side of my tongue for 6 months. Other than that, slight swelling on lower right (the bitch tooth that refused to come out) no real pain to speak of, mind you I was stoned out of my head for the first 24 hours on pain killers

I've been to the dentist this morning, and i thought with all the pain and infection she'd be phoning up and saying i need to be seen quickly etc. But no, apparently i can expect pretty much permanent infections until they get pulled out So i'm currently enquiring into the Bupa route also. I do not envy your missus one bit having all 4 out OllyK

SimonC Not a great experience having all 4 out then

That was nothing mate, its very common for the face to end up looking like a hampster!!!!

TBH it was no where near as bad as its sounds!!! The feelings all recovered, and if I needed to go through it again I would with no second thoughts.

Why can't the dentist take them out? My dentist pulled my upper L wisdom tooth under local anaesthetic, when it became infected and caused a bit of grief. Lot of crunching sounds and it was out. It did hurt a bit when the anaesthetic wore off. Next day everything was perfectly alright.

BUPA is looking promising, but they want a whole load of info that we don't have, like treatment codes etc, have written to the consultant for that.

Fingers crossed for you both!

Charles, I have a history of difficult extractions and had a lot of mouth problems so the surgeon wants to do it and wants me to have general. Believe me, at the moment i'd have local in a heartbeat!
