im interested to know if this is true or not...


i spoke with a local dealer about the MY06 STI. He told me that it wasnt available to him yet as there was some problems and a certain percentage of cars were being brought back with faults.....

and, that the PPP is the same price for the WRX as it is for the STI, £1700???



in reply to previous post it this thread, the free PPP was offered at the beginning of MAY 05, thats when i bought mine, so it may well have been offered in july also

Prodrive have a limited quantity of ecu's that are sent out with the inital batch of performance packs. Dealer then removes original ecu from car fits prodrive remapped ecu then returns to prodrive removed ecu.

Until prodrive gets the ecu's back from dealers they are unable to get the packs back out therfore turn around a bit slow iirc.

I had my ppp fitted about a Month now but did have it on order before it was released

Question for RB5-Black or anyone else with an '06 WRX (non Sti) 2.5L with PPP kit fitted:

It's taken as read that the perfromance is better, but can you please comment on the fuel consumption difference from the standard car if possible?

It's just that I was talking to a guy with the old 2.0L Blob-eye car and he seemed to claim two things: that he gets 30mpg around town with ppp fitted, and that the ppp kit didn't drastically alter the mpg in general. I find both slightly hard to believe when you get an extra 40bhp etc.

I understand that the 2.5L might not give as good mpg as the 2.0L, but I'm just wary of ending up with a car that does close to 20mpg around town, a big no no and part of the reason for not going with the Sti for me. And I'm talking about mpg when poodling around town here with the odd blast now and then, not zipping around all the time like a nutter.

not a very helpful post, but if i even dared to work my MPG out, i would be more than likely horrifed, so for that reason i dont check mine...


Oh, i can say its bad though, as im at the petrol station every week. And it doesnt make a hape of a difference if i drive like a loon or carefuly, so i drive like a loon everywhere now lol


thats why i bought mine, my only regret is that i bought an STI PPP now and not the WRX PPP

Hi - PPP doesn't make that much difference in my past experience (03 MY), the mpg I get week to week is now around 20mpg in general use. I think it lowers the mpg figure just a little until youstart going to a track and really exercising that fuel pump and bhp.

has anyone tried buying one and asked for free ppp ?
i thought i would ask as no one has mentioned it. lets be honest there must be loads of nines in showrooms .im sure if three of you went to a dealership and stated you all wanted free PPP theres no way they would turn it down. the bugeye had a bad start as i remember but this model has been a worse.

I've only run the car with PPP for 200 miles now and in total the car has only done 1300 miles.

I'll keep an eye on my MPG and get back to you, but in that short time I haven't seen a huge change in the MPG either way.
