If I do that in my E46 M3 that had less than 7000 miles and good discs and pads on it when I got it it grumbles.
The rattles I've sorted with felt strips and otherwise it is a nice all rounder, but the brakes are shockingly bad unless you just want to stop once or a few times in succession. Granted I could drive a whole week of "normal driving" and not find them a problem, but it hardly encourages me to take the back roads...

They're not the best set up in the world. If I'm braking hard for longer than 10 seconds or so, then they do grumble a bit. Never had a heart-in-the-mouth moment though. Would be better with a full set of AP's or StopTechs.
However, for everyday use they're fine. I've also left my blanking plates in, as in the rain, my old 330d sport brakes were useless for a few seconds. Can be scary on a sodden motorway sliproad!

I'm wondering about some EBC Ceramic red pads. They are reasonably priced, not dusty and seemed to work well when I used them on the Scooby with APs. Will wait until the regional manager has inspected the front alloys though which are starting to corrode under the lacquer as I don't want it blamed on deposits from pads I haven't fitted yet, think this is just a 19" wheel problem from what I read. The discs are a good size and on alloy bells, and the force from the caliper seems adequate, so I think it must be the pads or fluid.

John,
It could well be the pad that is at fault. May well be worth trying a different compound. I have to say that the standard pads don't seem to produce much dust. My alloys aren't too bad, when compared to others that I've seen or heard about.
The only downer that I have with my alloys is that when the rear nearside tyre was changed, the fitter dragged the bead of the tyre round the rim and has marked it. It's not bad, but I notice it every time I look at the wheel. Would you notice???
Let me know how you get on with yours
Cheers

Gorgeous cars.
I've promised myself one in 12-18 months time when they "should" be available for just under 20k.
German quality and performance to match, but prestige as well

I'm now on my 2nd M3 after my 3 scoobies.
This is it when I picked it up last year.
