Pete,

Beflore you take the plunge, also have a look at http://www.drivethedeal.com and see what figure they come back with. Most of these places get such a discount as they setup a lot of people in bulk and effectively do a fleet purchase and hence can command decent discounts. Normally they just setup a deal with your local garage, and then you deal with the garage from there on in. They just do the initial deal breaking and get a decent price for you.

Been to the website Hanslow, thanks for the tip.

What they do is to get a commission from the Main Dealer ....

Their price for a Sport is £17967 .... still quite a bit more than the company at the top of the thread - hence my doubt and caution!

Hmmmm, sounds like quite a difference. Have you done a search on google and/or google groups to see if there are any reports of other people using them and having good / bad experiences?

When I bought my MR2 new, I took a printout from drive the deal into the dealer and he said he'd match it, so I then haggled a bit more for a few extra options and did a deal. You could always talk to someone at the original place you mention and ask how they can get such a good deal, express your concerns, etc. and see if you can get some confirmations that'd put your mind at ease.

I have said that I am confused and a bit suspect of their deal ....... they just say 'ring us' ... so, I think I will do just that tomorrow!

It 'seems' genuine now that I look at what I can get from other websites - a SPORT can be got for £17,295 On The Road ..... the other price clearly isn't OTR price ....... so, something needs to be added.

It still seems an excellent deal though and mighty tempting - the list is £18900 for a Sport + £325 for Metallic ............... a minimum of £2000 off just has to make sense on a car that doesn't lose much value!

If you like it, go for it!

You only live once and you cant take it with you m8

Just make sure there are no hidden extras and it IS a UK car

It may sound stupid (or I may have missed something earlier on the thread) but have you tried going back to your local dealer with a print out of these internet deals? they may not match the price but they may offer close (or extras thrown in)

the aftersales will be much better and you will get a much better PX if required

Pete

Although you have had a reply from the company, it's interesting on their site some cars are quoted as UK sourced, while others are quoted as UK supplied & sourced. It may be they are too lazy to put down this every time or it could be they just have imported it to meet UK spec and of course it's UK supplied as you would or could be the second owner. It may just be a play on words. drivethedeal I have used before for the missus car and they were very good and the cheapest I could find, so it's a good comparison. But they are brand new cars - your 5 may be second owner or may just be the first few in the UK. I have to say I've only seen one new MX5 around so wonder if they are not selling (and winter is hardly the best time).

Incidentally, also interesting your dealer said he was looking for Scooby's. I went to get an accurate price on mine (since I was a total **** by buying this MY05 new), and he advised that I should sell my MY05 WRX PPP SL Wagon for 14.5-15k. He says they would put it up for 15995, but that he wasn't interested in buying it as they have loads of them for sale with few buyers at the moment....
