Ok - here it is then !!

Meet between 0945-1000hrs in the PC World car park in the Retail Park off Sir Frank Whittle Way.

There's a Shell station very close by and a McDonalds right next to it for those of you who like to start the day that way or just get a coffee!!

First cars away at 1005hrs - 5 minute intervals - groups of 5 to 6 cars (if you already have a preference for who you want to run with then group together in the car park ready for the off.

Maps and route directions will be issued on the day - they are somewhat limited for this one as I do not have a colour photocopier in my car transporter - change of job and all that!!

Route directions start from the McDonalds on the Markeaton Island roundabout off the A38 - easy to find on any map. Basically it's left out of the Retail Park and follow the road turning left onto the A38.

Should be a great day for everyone but remember the basic guidelines

See you all Sunday

THIS IS NOT A RACE
Drive at a pace you are comfortable with
Do not feel pressured to drive faster by others

REMEMBER THE RULES OF THE ROAD
Observe all traffic signs – they are there for a reason!
Only overtake when it is safe for YOU to do so

DRIVE SAFELY
Be patient and considerate to other road users
‘Read’ the road, drive accordingly & maintain a safe distance

ENJOY
There’s something for everyone

Er, might not be the time to mention this, but it's also a Bank Holiday Sunday, so there may well be more out at pubs than usual, hence less parking space?
Might pack my own picnic and hope for nice weather.

To explain *he said with shameless copy and paste!*

CTCSS is a fairly standard feature on all radios, but may be called something different by each manufacturer, e.g. Motorola call it Private Line, Kenwood call it Quiet Tone, etc. (DCS is the digital equivalent.) The CTCSS tone is carried, along with your voice, by the radio signal. The receiving radio is tuned to the same radio frequency as the transmitter, but will only "unmute" its speaker, allowing the message to be heard, if it can detect that the appropriate tone is present.

Typically there are 38 tones to choose from which means on a single frequency (e.g. 462.625Mhz) there could be up to 38 different users or user groups, each assigned to a different tone. Each group is able to have private conversations without the other groups being able to hear what they are saying. However, if any one group is having a conversation, no other group can transmit at the same time without blocking the signal because no matter which CTCSS tone they use, they are still using the same radio frequency.

On some licence-exempt PMR446 radios the tones are user selectable, giving effectively 38 individual channels on each radio frequency. PMR446 radios operate on 8 frequencies which are programmed into the radio when it leaves the factory. With 38 tones per frequency, you have up to 304 different combinations to eliminate interference.

If you've only just got them you'd be best returning them and getting some like these http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Produc...er/5530740.htm £30 but will be worth the difference

"However, if any one group is having a conversation, no other group can transmit at the same time without blocking the signal because no matter which CTCSS tone they use, they are still using the same radio frequency."

Best warn all the other groups to use a different channel then - otherwise they'll never get a word in edgeways with PB and SWGL!!!!!
