When turning up you want to use anything to aid your risk assessment and plan of work. We look for all types of stickers eg. LPG fuel, disabled or 'My other car is a Subaru' (so we know theres a chance the person is a Scoobynet member and as such knows more about what we are doing than we do)

We once turned up to an RTC and we made contact with the driver (a Mr Solberg-although he spoke with cockney accent ) but he couldn't tell us where his mate was (a Mr Mills)
Well there were stickers all over the that suggested he should be there

I don't think they are intended to stop would be suicide drivers from driving into you by appealing to their maternal instincts............
I've got a pair of puppies fnarr fnarr and therefore take corners and turnings more carefully and slower than usual. When people are right on my @rse wondering what te **** I'm doing, I often wish I had a sign saying DRIVING CAREFULLY DUE TO FLYING DOGS IN BACK. However, given the option, I wouldn't display one!

Er calm down PG. My point is - fair enough if you see one of these signs, but you wouldn't assume either way - whether there was a sign or not about how many passengers may have been in the car. I would suspect that if you ask most people why they display these signs, I doubt they would say it is because of a potential accident. People have it in their mind that these signs will somehow make people drive differently - that's utter rubbish.
Talizman's question was whether these signs make people change their driving style - the concenus is absolutely not.
If there was a true benefit to having these signs in your car, surely it would be a legal requirement to display a sticker in your car at all times saying how many people are in it? Why just kids? Or if it is for small babies etc - at what stage do you stop displaying the sign?
The other thing to consider is that these signs could work against you. What about the potential time wasted by the emergency crews searching for a non-existant baby/child, because they've seen one of these signs and the child in question wasn't in the car?

YES, THIS IS THE REASON FOR THESE STICKERS!
I typed it in in captals for the hard of thinking.
For those who thought it was for other reasons like showing off, try engaging your brains from time to time.
MORE OF WORRY - SCOOBY-DOO STUFFED TOYS IN CARS
I would be more concerned about people who drive around with stuffed scooby doo toys on their rear shelf or back seat and do not have kids - these are people who need help!

My question is, do they actually make your average punter drive any differently when your car sports this thing?
In my experience, folk don't seem to give a rat's *** if there is a baby in the car or not, just wondered if this was simply my pessemistic view, or if the masses actually thought they worked?
